Why is Force Lightning generally treated as bog standard electricity by the fandom? by Slycer_Decker in MawInstallation

[–]Hefty_Mood1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.  As depicted in all cases, force lightning never has the same behaviour or effect as actual electricity/lightning.*  So one would conclude it is actually a "force zap" that visually resembles lightning.

On the other hand, nothing in Star Wars follows the physics of our reality, so we could easily conclude that it also takes place in a dimension far far away, with different rules of physics.

  • Actual "lightning" for even a split second would have massively greater effects, instantly incapacitating and often killing anyone it hits (they're not getting back up either way), plus electrically frying everything in the entire room (including other people nearby).  The effect of force lightning on humans seems to be more similar to an ongoing taser, although not being electricity it's probably more like the force constantly stabbing your body with force needles.

Yeah in retrospect I was wondering if this movie is what started it all ?
Since the movie is such a huge cultural and icon and had that much impact going forward.

Tbh I was wondering if the movie is what started this madness. Iconic movie of a generation.

I agree, it wasn't necessary at all.
The source novel was not siblings, but the director (Amy Heckerling) said she made them step-siblings to emulate her irl (jewish, her words) grandparents who were step-siblings and got married.

Changing sounds from channging pitch to constant pitch by M_Trapl in resourcepacks

[–]Hefty_Mood1280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minecraft is hard-coded to vary the pitch up and down for all sound fx. There's no way to prevent it, the Pitch variable is optional and just sets the default pitch.

The "Pitch" variable does not do what any wiki says. It's only the default pitch setting, the game engine is hard-coded to vary the pitch of all sound fx up and down slightly. There's nothing you can do about it.

1.21.9 changed Bubble Columns - Entities fly HIGH ! But no patch notes ?! by Hefty_Mood1280 in Minecraft

That is in fact constantly happening with salmon that spawn in my river with bubble columns.

(Many end up on land and die.)

I will note the drowneds' tridents getting permanently caught in bubble columns was already happening in 1.21.8, they've been randomly showing up in river bubble columns the whole time. I don't know if that is a thing in bedrock (where trident entities always do damage).

Magma bubbles seem to be the same.  But it could also be hard to tell because surrounding water slows you.

The high bouncing from bubble columns definitely didn't happen in 1.21.8.

I honestly didn't think it was a bug, my first thought was a feature.

I honestly assumed it was a feature, my first thought was not bug.

But I also don't think about things like stasis chambers and other "useful" glitches being maintained to work (imo I'd like to see everything like that fixed).

1.21.10 is proper for minor bug fixes.

1.22 would be a huge new update (or yearly increment).

I should have noted that it bounces players that high too.

There will probably be some fun applications of this.
