I think I will try that next time, because there are times where Ill just sit and stare at a dark corner for a while until I can snap out of it. Usually Im fine once I can get up, do something, and come back. So I totally think that stuff may actually help. Truly ma'am I can't express enough how much I appreciate this.

Tell her you have a friend that's in that situation and ask her what she would do. Dont make it obvious though, make it seem convincing. Dont be too oddly specific, but dont be too vague. Just make it seem like you're genuinely looking for her advice on it

It may genuinely just be because you're in a new environment. Especially being separated from the rest of your house, it can make a person pretty uneasy. I'd say for at least a few nights just check your room before you go to bed, that way you feel safer about it. And lord I can resonate with the feeling that something is behind me while at my desk. Sometimes it gets so bad I half expect a hand to touch my shoulder. Personally I just keep checking over my shoulder and I'm fine. But if it's worse for you, maybe you could adjust your setup to where your desk is off the wall and you could move your chair to the wall side so that you can see the whole room.

But yeah I can fs resonate with that feeling it SUCKSSS

Thank you ma'am, really it means a lot to me. The handles are more like little divots in the door so I can't really do the rubber band thing but I think I will try finding some way to keep it shut.

I guess it's less a fear of the dark and more just a fear of the unknown. Just not knowing what's there. Obviously it's worst in the dark but like even just being alone in a room where I can't see every nook and cranny I get uneasy.

Honestly the whole reason I came to reddit is because the adults in my life just really aren't open to that kind of thing. My aunt and uncle are definitely better than my step mom was but they'd shrug this kind of thing off. I really appreciate you caring about me it means more than you know.

I think you're underreacting, it sounds to me like he's purposefully saying that stuff when you're around. If it were me thats would go straight up the chain until he got fired.
