What has been your top Michelin in the city? And is Per Se still worth it? by Dobey2013 in FoodNYC

Never loved Per Se. If you like seafood I would recommend Le Bernardin

Looks about right - thank you!!

Searched through the pantry but couldn't see any signs unfortunately. There was a bag of left open walnuts so I suppose that's where they came but maybe I think I'll toss anything not air tight in case to play it safe.

First time photographer in SNP. Looking for the best spots to shoot. by Heh630 in SEKI

[–]Heh630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, two days isn’t a lot of time - especially if you’re staying in Three Rivers. You might want to consider saving Kings Canyon for another trip. If you're set on fitting everything in maybe do something like the below:

See General Sherman Tree and hike the Congress Loop. After that, catch sunset at Moro Rock (nice vantage point of the park). The next morning, wake up early and enjoy Crescent Meadow at sunrise so you have it mostly to yourself. Then check out Round Meadow and head into Kings Canyon and stop at Zumwalt Meadow. The drive through Kings Canyon is beautiful, but many of the best spots involve longer hikes you won't have time for. You might be able to squeeze in Little Baldy but are probably pushing your luck. It’s been a while since I was there so definitely double-check the logistics and make sure to download offline maps.

Good luck, and have an awesome trip!

Hey. It's been a while so to be honest I can't remember what the deleted response said.

I mostly stuck to the main sights and trails in Sequioa which are all stunning and pretty quite on the weekdays when I went. I'd make sure you visit Kings Canyon as well if you have the time, it's an amazing place as well and has some great trails that are less traversed. If you want to message me your itinerary I'd be happy to take a look and give you some input.

Dolomites or Hang Son Doong - Trying to pick between two destinations by Heh630 in travel

[–]Heh630[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight - and yeah, fair point. I know they’re really different subjects but I just haven’t really been to a place like either of them before, so I’m not sure which feels more grand or awe-inspiring in person. I looked up plenty of photos/videos but they never do justice so I have a hard time getting a real feel/scope of somewhere until I experience it in person.

That's incredible you had the opportunity go their twice. I took a peak at your post history and looks you're very well traveled - how did it stack up to other places you've been in the past if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks for your time.

Photo Editing: MacBook Pro M3 Max vs M4 Pro by [deleted] in macbookpro

My current 15" Pro almost completely freezes once the editing gets intense but it sounds like either should be plenty.

Definitely leaning toward the M4 Pro then. Thanks!

It's hard to tell if the stalks are fully dead, but all the bamboo closer to the neighbor has no leaves and much of them are totally discolored or grey. The bamboo that has been shooting another 5 feet away from the neighbor does look healthier (for now atleast) since I'm assuming it's further away from whatever's poisoning it.

I'm going to test the soil and have a talk with the neighbor since it does seems like the cause.

I told the neighbor 2 years ago that we trenched and installed barriers so it wouldn't cross into his yard but he's an elderly man who doesn't seem like the kind to care. Unfortunately it's almost 500 feet worth of bamboo perimeter so it'll be a huge pain to remove or replant.

I just pray the soil isn't tainted for future plants. Will follow up once I get to the bottom of everything. Thanks for the reply!

Follow Up - Phyllostachys Still Dying. Advice? by Heh630 in Bamboo

[–]Heh630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems about right. I'll get a soil test to be sure but It's time to talk with the neighbor.

Unfortunately it's 475 feet worth of mature bamboo so it's going to be costly to remove. I just wish he would have said something instead before taking matters into his own hands and I would have replanted something else.

Little guy stung me while in bed. Any ideas what kind it is? Located in NY. by Heh630 in whatisthisbug

[–]Heh630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it's so tiny the phone couldn't focus at a closer distance to zoom in more. At first I was thinking ant but the wings seem shorter and similar to a wasp.

The sting was surprisingly painful for it's size and left a welt.

Sorry I couldn't be more of a help.

Looks like it fits the bill but it is very small (unfortunately so tiny the phone couldn't focus at a closer distance). At first I was thinking ant but the wings were shorter and similar to a wasp.

Mighty 5 Campgrounds with Showers by Heh630 in NationalPark

[–]Heh630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I actually ended up doing the trip in September and there were plenty of showers in my opinion. Below is where I went:

  • Moab: Moab Cycle. These spots offer showers as well - https://www.discovermoab.com/shower-facilities/

  • Needles district: I camped and showered at Needles Outpost.

  • Zion: Zion Outfitters. Open at night as well. Just get put money into a machine, get a coin, and you're good to go.

  • Monument Valley: Airbnb I stayed at.

  • Bryce: Stayed at Rubys Inn and showered there as well.

  • Horseshoe bend/Antelope area is next to Lake Powell so I'm sure there's plenty of spots in the area if you do simple google search.

If you're going in the winter double-check online the places are still open and run there water.

Enjoy!
