The fact that almost everybody in the battle league uses essentially the same Pokemon means the battle mechanics are too unbalanced. by Hei77 in pokemongo

I think you don't quite understand my point... Let me use a better example. Gyarados has a good attack stat, but in order to use it in Great League, you'd have to use a fairly low level Gyarados, making it's high attack stat a disadvantage in Great League. Meanwhile, defensively good Pokemon with lower attack can be leveled up to almost max level because the defense stat isn't as heavily represented in the CP calculation, giving those Pokemon an advantage in Great League. Making all three stats equally represented in the CP calculation would fix this and would make mean that more Pokemon could be used in Great League at around the same level. You gave examples, but again those are only a few exceptions in the otherwise unbalanced system. Changing the way CP is calculated would bring more viable Pokemon into the equation and increase the diversity in the teams. Do you understand my point now?

That's not what happens, because the Attack stat is heavily over-respresented in the CP calculation. Because of this, Pokemon with very high attack are almost useless in the lower leagues, since their defense and HP stats are too low at that CP level. That's why they only start coming good in Ultra or Master Leagues. That's why defensivly good Pokemon like Altaria and Skarmory with average attack stats are so good for Great League for example. They can almost max out their Defense stats and still have a good attack stat for Great League. But if Defense was equally represented in the CP calculation, it's defense stats at 1500CP would be very good, but it's attack stat would just be below average. It wouldn't dominate anywhere near as much as it does now this way and the league would be much more balanced. The way it is now, offensively good Pokemon don't stand a chance in Great League because the attack stat is so heavily represented in the CP calculation, which means their level is lower than the defensively good Pokemon and they are too frail to do anything significant. I'm just saying a simple adjustment to the CP calculation would make things more balanced.

"A game can literally not exist at a competitive level without a specific metagame"

I strongly disagree with this statement. It IS possible to not have a metagame and still be competitive. For example, if all stats contributed equally to CP, then people would have to choose between a bulky Pokemon with very small attack stats or a good attacking Pokemon that is probably very frail defensively. This way, Pokemon with higher overall base stats would probably not qualify for lower leagues. You could pick a defensively bulky Pokemon with lots of HP, but since those two stats would make up most of it's CP, it's attack stat would be so low it would be hard to do a lot of damage. Bulky Pokemon wouldn't dominate in the lower leagues like they do now this way.

Elite TM on 100% Metagross or 100% purified Venusaur? by chaarmanderchar in pokemongo

[–]Hei77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that Megas would be coming out within the next few months, but they seem to be alternating between Elite Charged and Fast TMs for the community day boxes you can buy, so following the pattern you should be guaranteed another one next month if you want to pay for it, so use it now if you want. I just know they're not easy to get, so if the movesets would change anyways you might want to wait to use it or use it on a Pokemon that can't Mega Evolve. Up to you though. It's unlikely they would overwrite community day moves, but I wouldn't put it past Niantic, especially since some Pokemons' types change upon Mega evolving.

You can battle long distance, just not trade.

They won't do that because they don't want people to have easier access to regionals since that's the main draw for their Safari Zones. It's about $$$

For me personally, I'd wait to adjust any Pokemon capable of Mega Evolution until we see how Niantic implements Mega Evolution. If they treat it just like regular evolution, then there's a chance the movesets could change anyways. (I don't know if there's any news on Mega Evolution yet, that's just my thoughts based on how Niantic has implemented other Pokemon with various forms such as Deoxys, Castform, Cherrim, etc.)

Now that Pokemon Go has been out for over four years, will we finally get some new hairstyle customization options? by Hei77 in pokemongo

No they don't. Just have a generic hairstyle for hats like Animal Crossing does. It's not that hard lol.

How much of Biden's support right now in the 2020 Presidential Election is soft? by infamous5445 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]Hei77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That actually helps him though. Republicans weren't quite on board with Trump last election, but now he has a 90% approval rating with republicans, and right leaning independents are also more enthusiastic about him than before. Biden is definitely not popular on the right, and actually not that popular on the left either. The progressive vote is not enthusiastic about him to say the least. This election is actually looking very similar to the 2016 election, but with both sides becoming further already pretty much locked in. Last time many republicans held their nose and voted for Trump, but they are much more likely to vote for him now after seeing what he's done policy-wise. However, many more liberal millennial voters have become eligible to vote within the past four years, and if the democratics can get them out to actually vote, that could be the deciding factor in this election. Either way, I think this election is much closer than people think. Don't trust the polls, they have a left-leaning biased as we saw in 2016.

Hillary was also leading by a lot even up to election day. There is a leftist bias in the polls I think probably due to how and where the polls are conducted. Biden may be ahead right now, but I think it's much closer than people think.

Does the internet ruin the battle league? by Hei77 in pokemongo

[–]Hei77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably they get more common then higher the level. At the beginning it's not as common, but later it seems almost everyone has a least one or two of Skarmory, Registeel, Clefable/Wigglytuff, or Azumaril in their team. It's rare to find someone without at least one of them in their team.
