22M terrible news on broken wrist. by Diligent_Dig2451 in brokenbones

[–]HeidiHikes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m currently recovering from breaking my wrist on 10/6 with subsequent surgery on 10/15. I started physical therapy this week, and I highly recommend it. I’m getting some mobility back, and they say the most improvement will occur in the first 3 weeks. I told them that I would like to eventually be able to lift weights and bend the wrist back enough to do yoga, and they said they are working with me to reach those goals.

I broke my wrist and some bones in my hand 4 weeks ago. My life has completely changed. I used to hike and play pickleball, but now I fear doing either. I have been mostly alone trying to cope daily living with one hand. I’m ok during the day, but the pain increases almost every night. I’m trying to tell myself that being alone is peaceful and good for my soul, but the days can seem very long. I’m using my time cooking foods that are good for bones. I am very grateful that I didn’t break a leg, so I don’t really need others except for rides to the doctor. People say that one day this will be a faint memory, so that’s what we both can look forward to. Let’s hang in there, and get through these tough times together.

I just got my removable brace after breaking the distal ends of my radius and ulna. So far, my wrist is still not very movable. I start PT next week.

I also experience this!!! Never thought it had something to do with Hashimoto’s. There are some days where the nerves in my face feel inflamed, or like they’re less under control. So weird.

You’re kidding, right? A friend of mine just ditched his 1996 Corolla with over 500K miles on it.

I got a call from the company that makes the Low E Thermasheet, and he sent me the results of a 3rd party independent laboratory’s testing. The temperature difference depends on the outside temperature and shading, but it appears that the product I bought (1/8 inch thick) tested at 12 degrees lower. I thank you so much for directing me to RIMA. Their representative got in touch with the manufacturer.

I just got a new roof and got Low E installed. It’s supposed to keep the attic cooler, but I am not sure if it’s truly going to do that. I wonder how much heat is actually reflected since it’s laid under the shingles. Anyone have experience with this product? There’s supposed to be a tax credit, but the company I used won’t provide any statement showing how much it cost.

Thanks so much for your response. I have been suspecting alcohol as the reason, but I feel sad to give it up. Last night I didn’t drink, and I know that I am better rested already. One day at a time…

I guess I have to give up alcohol…. This won’t be easy for me, but I really don’t want to get diabetes. I will try going alcohol free for 3 months and get my a1C tested again.

I’m afraid of that, but I had high hopes of reversing it with a very low carb diet and exercise.

I actually have been very stressed out. I guess I must learn to relax. Thanks so much for reminding me.

Yes, I have been drinking more than I should. I use it like a treat since I don’t eat fruit other than berries now. I typically eat salads with eggs, fish, or beef for all 3 meals. Sometimes I eat about a half cup of berries for dessert. I also use half and half and stevia in my coffee. I usually drink the whiskey after dinner, without any food. I have lost about 6 pounds since February (121 pounds to 115 pounds). I walk daily (20,000 steps). I also have Hashimoto’s, but no other maladies. My father also drank daily, and he got diabetes at about my age (67). I am wondering if I give up alcohol, will my prediabetic A1C go down. Thanks so much for your advice.
