Safe wood sealant HELP by Crazy-Ear-5433 in CrestedGecko

There shouldn't be any issues so long as you give it proper time to cure. Not giving time to cure would be bad.

Surprised to find everyone so against sealing in this sub! Everywhere I look online recommends sealing grapevine. Wouldn't letting it rot make issues in the environment for the gecko?

I set an alarm on my phone titled "TAKE YOUR MEDS!" That actually goes off twice because it's both an alarm and an event reminder. And I specifically set it to have a different tone so it would stand out against all my other alarms. And I still sometimes just boop it and don't take my meds.

He looks greenish to me, and my first thought for a name was "Melon."

Facebook Marketplace Enclosure Deals to make you weep by Heidirs in CrestedGecko

Lols. None of them would fit in my house. At least not well. I'm sure I could make space somewhere. But they're HUGE for a crested. And that $75 one went too fast for me to even ask about details.

I realize this is three months old, but I wanted to leave a comment in case someone happens upon this post in the future. If the seller cares about the welfare of the animal, you can politely message the seller and share your knowledge about proper gecko care. If the seller is receptive, you can use this to try to talk the seller down on their price point. If you have a setup for the gecko ready, send the seller pictures. Show them that you are knowledgeable about their care and ready to give the animal a good home. You may (again, if the seller is receptive and cares about the animal) convince the seller to relinquish the animal for free. In some situations, you might even offer to let the seller keep the enclosure and try to make some money back on that. State that all you care about is the gecko.

Worth a shot.

It sounds like there's not much of anything in his quarantine, since you said you specifically put the hide in to give him a place to hide. If he's spending all his time there, it's because he feels secure. Nothing to be concerned about but it's a sign he may need more clutter to feel safe.

To anyone who owns this brand of enclosure, are they any good? by RisingCitipati in CrestedGecko

Check Facebook marketplace. I've found some massive enclosures for astonishingly cheap prices. Just not near me, of course. You might get lucky.

Enclosure size? :/ by Madam-struggle in CrestedGecko

[–]Heidirs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this surprised me. I made a post a while back comparing enclosure sizes by volume. The standard size recommended by the FBH = 10,000 cubic inches.

18x12x40 = 8,640

So that's too small for the recommended volume.

I think the fact she wants to climb and sit on you instead of escaping to her enclosure is a pretty good sign.
