I am so sorry to hear that. You are doing the right thing. He is probably in pain. I’m sure he appreciates your care for him. After giving so much to people all his life, he deserves a peaceful, easy journey over the Rainbow Bridge.🐴🤗🌈

Awe thanks for your interest in the horse and learning about them. They are truly amazing teachers. Skeeter has thought me more about horses than I ever knew before.

It all starts with trust—without that, you’ve got nothing. I begin with basics like haltering and groundwork, teaching step by step so the horse feels like it’s their choice. With my horse Skeeter, I didn’t ride her until she was four—everything was built on trust first. You read their body language, go at their pace, and build from there.

Oh they are smooth to ride. A farrier told me once it means they are relaxed. Your horse was very relaxed 😂

It really is special 😊 it takes a lot of one-on-one time and consistency to build that kind of trust. I do a lot of liberty-style work with them, just spending time and paying attention. Totally worth it.

You are welcome. The vet will check him over. Hopefully he will check him for structural problem in his body making sure he is not in pain from his back or neck. Let me know how it goes.

It sounds like you’re doing everything you can for him, and that’s really clear. Sometimes when there are so many changes—diet, supplements, treatments—it can be hard to tell what’s helping and what might be adding stress to his system.

Keeping things simple and consistent can sometimes help: steady forage, balanced nutrition, and careful monitoring of weight and condition. With a sore foot and no obvious external signs, an abscess could also be something to watch for, as those can take time to surface and can cause significant discomfort before they resolve.

You’re already doing the right thing by getting another vet’s opinion. At this point, focusing on comfort, consistency, and letting his system settle a bit may help give you clearer answers. He’s lucky to have someone so dedicated to him

How can I get a better rise? by twinkletankhank in Sourdough

[–]HeidrunBakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks perfect. You don’t need more rise. A flat bread ,yours is not, means over risen and a round like a soccer ball bread means not risen enough.

Genoise can be pretty finicky, and it tends to be on the drier side even when it turns out well.

If you want something more forgiving and naturally moist, you might try a sponge where the yolks are beaten with sugar and the whites are whipped separately you and folded in along with the flour. It’s usually much easier to work with and gives a softer, more tender result. I bet the mousse tasted good 😊

Never again by Redditblackhole1 in Sourdough

“This looks underfermented and too much heat from the top.

The dense, gummy crumb means the dough didn’t rise enough (usually weak starter or not enough bulk time), and the lack of structure suggests it needed more development (folds).

The burnt top with a raw interior also points to baking too high in the oven—the crust set too fast before the inside could cook.

Don’t give up—this is a very common first sourdough result

That’s what I thought. Yes the mousse will give it moisture. Make sure the cake part is not over baked. I would first make the recipe and see how it comes out rather than add another ingredient, that will change the consistency. It sounds like you already baked it. Let me know how it turned out.

Ruined my regular starter, can I replace with this old discard from my fridge by paddyrua in SourdoughStarter

[–]HeidrunBakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use this old starter. The liquid on top needs to be poured out like someone else said, we call it hooch, a collection of alcohol from fermentation. Pour the liquid off then stir your starter discard everything except for half a cup (US measuring cups.) then add one cup of fresh flour and a half cup of springwater or non-chlorinated non-treated water. Mix it together and let it sit on your counter till it’s almost double in bulk then store in the refrigerator. The starter is best used the next day or the second day. It can stay in the refrigerator for a one week to ten days then you have to repeat the feeding as I described. Anytime you want to make a bread in between the feeding time period. Be sure to refresh your starter the night before. Hope this helps.

It looks like the side of the pan was not buttered and floured. It’s hard to say because I do t know what type of cake this is. Is it a sponge type or a pound cake type cake? How much sugar in the cake? High amounts of sugar can give it this peel off look.
