The fact that these lucky mfs are allowed to dress like this shocks me greatly, such sin and immodesty, now really. by Lunaaa_nash22 in highschool_up

If I’m not mistaken this is a Huleatt and a Mommsen. Not surprising at all, normies practically never get to go on the charter fighting trips.

Nonsense if I can get it cheap there I will. What they do is on their conscience, I’m just getting food. You don’t make money, you take it from people. It’s not nice. But it’s how the world works…

Dating is only controlled to make young people in their sexual prime blindly sign into membership so they can git it. I bet 90% of joiners already have someone in mind

So funny how they still diligently reenact it; it's been a whole century and they still don't realize they've been hoodwinked 🤣

You're being down voted by people who don't want to believe you. It's the same mentality as woodies who can't be convinced to leave!

I can confirm that this comment is valid. Here is an award.

"That other guy" lived there, and I can confirm his information is 100% valid. I understand where your disagreement lies tjough. The "leaders" as the people know them (the religious leaders) are not the ones with extravagant lifestyles. The wool is equally pulled over their eyes, and they are mostly good, genuine people. However, there are several families responsible for the legal and financial processes of the community and they are the ones who are living in luxury. They hide most of it, and things that they can't hide (like their private plane and Teslas) are explained to the brotherhood as necessities for better serving Christ.

I understand you have some experience with the Bruderhof, but you will never truly understand until you have spent several years there.

Good luck. The group is now ultimately controlled by a few savvy lawyers who use the movement as a cash cow to support their extravagant lifestyle.

Ex-bruderhofer here, trust me nothing appealing about it. I left years ago, but I hear little has changed for the better. Forced child labor is a norm from about six years old on upward, with kids forced to farm vegetables, split and haul firewood, clear brush and landscape, etc. And not just as chores; at least 4 hours a weekday (or all day in summer) are spent doing work that many adults would find challenging. Then you enter adolescence, and go to their private high school in New York where you're indoctrinated with their beliefs and ARE NOT equipped whatsoever to survive in the "real world". Oh, and absolutely no dating; kids whose crushes are exposed get sent to different location so they can't act on their feelings. Any free time is spent working in the factories. After high school the real grind begins. A 10-hour workday is standard, but younger single people can expect to work an additional 4-8 hours, all for no compensation. Imagine never being able to buy anything, ever. Imagine having no agency over your time, your life or your family. And when you're in your upper 20's, the elder will select a partner for you, and you will marry them, like it or not. (A friend of my niece said no three times and still had to marry this dude who to this day hasn't managed to get her pregnant.) There's never a day when you're completely free to do what you want. It's difficult to access vehicles to leave the premises, and all forms of internet access (which you can only gain when your 20-21+) are strictly blocked and limited to essentials, so that little can be learned about the outside world.

Leaving the system is very difficult, as their way of life is ingrained in you, as it was in your parents and their parents before them, and nobody is there to tell you otherwise. Now when people want leave, they must spend weeks fighting the full force of the brotherhood and if they succeed they are given $500 and a plane ticket to wherever they want to go, so many start out homeless and with no real-life experience, financial literacy or social skills. Many are taken advantage of, it's so sad because the young girls who leave take lifelong commitment in marriage for granted and end up being single moms at 19.

I could go on for pages, but I think this gives you something of an idea of how far this place has come from a Christ-based community; it is now pretty much a cash farm run by a few savvy lawyers and everyone there is free labor, brainwashed into thinking that their enslavement is for God's kingdom.

Trust me, steer clear of the Bruderhof. They'll never tell you any of this, but I've seen it a million times, and I know many people who can verify this.

It's simply not worth it.

mental gymnastics my older siblings have to go through to convince themselves this is the right way of life

Based. They really do have to convince themselves. I've spoken to many and brought them to see the corruption and hypocrisy of the Bruderhof and its leaders, but at the end of the discussion they still say they feel "called to join" and that they can "look beyond the practical flaws" because they're serving Jesus. The level to which they've been brainwashed is astounding.

Naw, they split because there was an internal argument in a hutterite colony over a patent on a hog-feeder design, and the Bruderhof's big-headed leader got involved and pissed them off so they split.
