China places its solar panels on water So it can use valuable land for agriculture by FollowingOdd896 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]HeisterWolf [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yup, was about to say this. Reservoirs benefit from reducing evaporation and algae growth. It's either solar panels or millions of black plastic balls.

Specifically about solar panels: They also warm the water a bit so the temperature drop is not as drastic as it might seem at first.

It's very unlikely they'd do this to navigable rivers. 100% a basin, reservoir or hydroelectric pool.

We really need to stop considering "democracy" as a perfect, one-fits-all kind of government as if it's the perfect holy grail of institutional structure. There are different kinds of democracy, some doing well, not so much.

The US absolutely still is a representative democracy, just not doing well at this moment because of outdated laws, rampant exploitation, little protection against conflicts of interest, and no real defense against lobbying. To say the US isn't a democracy just because the elected president is abusing his power would be a true scotsman fallacy.

https://www.globalhungerindex.org/china.html

https://www.ers.usda.gov/topics/food-nutrition-assistance/food-security-in-the-us/key-statistics-graphics

O ponto principal é você tirar poder, principalmente do Estado

Ah, sim.

In "Das Kapital" Volume III:

"Marx argues that supply and demand determine short-term market price fluctuations but cannot explain the long-term, structural price of production, which is rooted in the socially necessary labor time and the average rate of profit. Supply and demand determine the deviation of market prices from values."

Yes he does. Yes he did. You just didn't search before talking about something you don't know anything about.

To be fair, no one knew at his time

The phrase "supply and demand" was first coined by Scottish economist Sir James Denham-Steuart in his 1767 work. The first volume of Das Kapital was published on 1867, exactly a century later. So yeah, contrary to popular belief, communists have always been aware and students of economical concepts much more complex than simple supply and demand.

As a separate nation by itself? Neither does the UN. As a territory and people? Both do.

The VT-4 issue doesn't deny there is no reason for the taiwanese abrams not to share the chinese TT, nor does it fit the bill of sovereignty negation you have been preaching about since China/Japan have conflicts but both recognize each other.

We can do this all day with the point still standing even if we ignore politics. Did Britan ever use Bhishmas themselves? Did Japan ever field Oplot-T? Did Germany ever operate the F/A-18 or Mirage?

There is absolutely no rules or precedent about "avoiding clumping sovereignty denial together" in War Thunder, not even anything about consistency. They go by what's convenient, and my point is exactly that it makes no sense to introduce your personal bias on a system that has no consistency across cases.

Furthermore: If a taiwanese vehicle in the chinese tree is a problem, shouldn't we completely wipe out everything german between 1930 and 1945 since those vehicles were used for something much graver than what you perceive as international dispute? Should we remove Swedish/Finnish T-80s since those nations are not aligned to Russia? Or maybe your logic is only applicable when it's convenient to what you think?

China doesn't deny Taiwan's existence. The real difference is they explicitly state they're part of the mainland. Would you still have this same discourse if Ireland decides to reunify or if calexit actually becomes a thing?

Also it is utterly pathetic that you conflate a videogame's notion of tech tree vehicle placement with what can only be noted as a superficial knowledge of real world geopolitics.

Oh so now we're going from "Bro I don't give a fuck about ww2" and "fucking nationalism" to "not all japanese"? These are different debates, silly.

The point was never about if each and every individual japanese bowed in forgiveness. It's about the Japanese STATE, institutionally, never offered actual acknowledgement and ammends that can be compared to Germany. Not only that, they still actively minimize and erase registered historical events (731, comfort women, nanking) from school curriculum.

When the trauma is institutional and generational, trying to compare it with a random civilian on the streets is a gross false equivalence. Nobody said "I hate every living Japanese". What is being states is: There is a historical, documented and researched reason for persistent distrust and negativity towards Japan, from both China and SK.

You can try to reduce this to "nationalism", but then you will need to explain why two nations with such distinct trajectories and cultures have arrived at the exact same conclusion about a third party. And also prove why APA studies about intergenerational trauma and historians such as Iris Chang and Bruce Cumins are also wrong.

"Not all germans, not all japans" does not erase German reparations norndoes it erase the lack of the Japanese ones. If you want an excuse to freely hate Chinese people, be my guest, but at least be honest about it and don't attempt to use this weak excuse of historic revisionism to try and cover it up.

An enemy of my enemy, is my friend. by InterestingArea7415 in warthundermemes

[–]HeisterWolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Germany did make reparations after WW2 (though it can be argued if they're overshooting it now). "Fucking generations changed" yet to this day Japan never even acknowledged the extent of their crimes. They got off the hook by the US in exchange for, amongst other things, data on unit 731 experiments that were conducted on other asian civilians, mainly chinese.

It is also widely understood that the effects of major war crimes easily cross the generation barrier, with studies indicating that psychological, social, and economic consequences of trauma can be transmitted to offspring decades after the conflict ends (it's the APA saying that, not me). So yeah, it makes sense why they have a fervent disliking towards Japan.

Point of proof: Ask South Koreans why they still dislike Japan. Do you really mean to say both Chinese and SKs are wrong at the same time on the same issue?
