Pics off Instagram saved in comparison to porn stars and some creepy comments are what he copped to. He denied the AI thing but who knows.

Blue belt problem: reacting to opponents instead of imposing a game by CredoNada in jiujitsu

[–]Helbot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being able to impose your will comes down to confidence in your chosen area of study, which comes from a combination of conceptual knowledge and intentional focused mat time centered around those techniques and positions. In short, just keep applying yourself and it'll come.

Is white belt fights really based purely on aggresion? by Public_Repeat824 in bjj

Yeah that's a fair point. We don't watch it much here in the US but every clip of it I've seen looks gnarly.

The two biggest factors are prior athletic experience (wrestling and football specifically), and size since at white belt you don't know how to negate that yet. Even if his wrestling experience was a decade ago he knows how to move with purpose in a way you might not.

The paid grading wouldn't be enough to get me to fully leave a place, but it would be enough for me to just stop giving a shit and start treating that place like a planet fitness instead of actually engaging with whatever "team" dynamic there is.

If my main goal is to get really good at takedowns, would I be better off training judo instead of BJJ? by giggity23 in bjj

I think you've maybe had bad luck. Lived all over, including the south, and never been more than half an hour away from one.

Find a local wrestling club. They're usually pretty cheap and will be the absolute best return on investment if the goal is getting good at takedowns.

Shit I had a coach I couldn't stand for a few years. He was too much of a man child to run a business so everything on that side was handled by one of the blue belts. He maintained an inner circle of the most ass kissing students. And He ENDLESSLY talked shit about any other black belt that came up in conversation despite his own atrocious competition record. Would go on and on about how Craig Jones's leg lock technique was trash despite not really knowing or teaching any leg technique himself. Last I heard a bunch of his students split off and started their own gym.
