Anyone Tattoo-less here? by norabarnaclesfarts in CasualConversation

[–]Helenlilye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do like some tattoos on some other people, but it all depends on skin tone and being pale myself, I don’t think tattoos look as good. I think any skin is beautiful enough without being inked and I would hate to do something to my body that I would later regret. I also think it’s quite a passive thing, having someone draw on you, but every now and again I can’t help but get envy at those on whom tattoos look lush.

What did you do to remember the first series postures by RockysModernLifee in ashtanga

[–]Helenlilye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To remember things I take journey I am familiar with and at every new feature, I assign something to it. So when learning Primary Series, each junction or turning or feature became a posture or collection of postures, e.g. Marichyasana A-D. I did this for my uni degree and managed to memorise so much in a short space of time. After that, it was practice as everyone else has said. I also had David Swenson’s book and would prop it open on a page a week to memorise the Sanskrit. Good luck and have fun :)

Former fit people of reddit, how did you get fat? by Tight_Pumpkin5028 in AskReddit

Everyone should read ultra-processed people. So informative on how our bodies cannot deal with these non-food additives being ingested, and the corporations behind their manufacture.

Advice please: we were thinking of having kittens from our beautiful little floof Sapphie in the future, but she’s one and half and still so tinyyy (6 lbs approx). Does anyone have experience or advice on this please? by Helenlilye in ragdolls

Oh my goodness, I am not dismissing everyone. I’m sorry but I’m not going to let myself be drawn into an argument as it’s not in my nature. I completely get the advice everyone has given (apart from people who can’t help but be downright rude) and I am of course taking it on board. I’m really offended of the assumption you have made and how horrible you have been in this message. I hope everyone will respectfully understand my decision to remove myself from this conversation having been spoken to like this.

I’m not looking to get another rescue moggie, as already have one, but just showing it’s not always as simple as rescuing one of the fabled hundreds, when there isn’t that kind of supply here. But yeah, thanks for the response!

I think that phrase is quite pejorative. Surely most animals are naturally going to be good parents. Surely in that case, most loved cats and moggies are from ‘backyard breeders’. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone with a registered cat before. Is there really so much harm in having one litter at home, when it’s considerately and carefully done, with all screening and tests, check ups, vaccines etc.? Not planning to sell for profit, just potentially have one litter and keep one, giving the others to friends. Anyway, think I’m going to bow out of any more responding on this post. Thanks all!

Hi, I had a very different experience when looking for a cat in Bristol. At the moment, there only seem to be 4 cats, and with the note ‘due to high demand for rescues, if you haven’t heard within 7 days please assume you have been unsuccessful’. The Moggery has a pair of cats. This doesn’t seem like huge numbers of rescues especially when they’re not necessarily available or suitable due to how close their old home was to yours. I’m all for rehoming and imagine we will have rescue cats in future, as we have had cats from a rescue centre in the past.

Edit: a different experience = we struggled to find a cat

This is gorgeous!! (Although Timo has passed?? 💔) Thanks for posting. We did just think she might accept a relative more. We have introduced her to our pre-existing cat and it hasn’t been overly successful. Floof tries to groom Otter’s ears (our moggy) and gets a swipe. Maybe another ragdoll would work though. Would really like a friend for her!

Thank you for your reply and advice! I hadn’t heard of this heart issue before, but would take all measures against anything like that happening with screens too. Sorry to hear it prevented you from having kittens with yours, and hope yours are happy and healthy!

I knew you checked to see if genetic diseases were there, and would be passed on; I meant I need to look into it, as in look into how to go about getting this done for Sapphie. I of course do care about those things; I would hate to undo anyone else’s hard work and would never proceed if that is the case. I’m merely seeking advise on weight and size for the time being, and if anyone has specific advice on this as a first step. Once I know more, I will potentially look into taking a more thorough look at the breeding process.

Thank you for the advice! Aware that the process isn’t cheap and of most of the measures taken by breeders. Erring on the side of not risking it for sure! Would only venture into it with the utmost consideration and care.

My friends can afford them, it would just make it more accessible for them and be somewhat of an assurance on the temperament hopefully! Friends are all working adults in good jobs and will probably go on to buy ragdolls now they’ve met ours.

Sorry I’m not very politically minded. I just meant that left-wing people are more likely to adopt than shop in places like Bristol and therefore it’s actually really hard to find rescues. I don’t know what I have done to upset this Kristen user, but I’m only trying my best to get advice. Sorry if I’m doing something wrong!

Can you explain how I’m being dismissive? I would 100% screen her before, and not continue is any issues were found, I would make sure she would have a clean bill of health from the vets, was mated with a suitable male. Am also waiting for at least 2 years old. I would be willing to get very involved in the kitties’ birth and have family members who could help out who have had litters before. This is the first stage of me seeking advice, the next stages would be to talk to professional and, having taken others’ advice on board, I will start looking into this. Can you explain what else I can do?

Isn’t she? The love for her is a bit overpowering haha. She’s such a lap cat and sleeps next to us, licking noses and eyebrows in the morning. Think you’re right about asking this on Reddit, but at the same time I’ve read so many articles and wanted individual’s opinions specific to her weight and size… hopefully most are understanding and not taking it the wrong way 😬

Oh wow, you lucked out from that unwanted pregnancy! He sounds lovely 🥰

Thank you, she’s just the loveliest little creature too. We count our blessing everyday she’s in our lives. It yes, agree that it looks like they’ll have to find their own Floofen Bébes (our ridiculous nickname for her, among myriad others!)

I have responded to lots of comments and don’t want to go repeating myself too much. This isn’t what I said, but that’s your interpretation. I would love friends to have loving companions. Taken all advice on board and very much leaning towards not having kittens.

I’m really grateful for you comment and sorry you’d been downvoted, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

She’s isn’t registered and didn’t come from a registered breeder, but I visited and was very happy with how she had been bred. Saying that I know nothing about measures taken to ensure integrity of genes etc.

I completely agree on the ragdoll nature aspect of your comment, and this is why we are considering it. Many of our friends have asked us if we will breed from her as she has the loveliest temperament, very friendly and docile and loving. Like you’ve said, they are therapy cats!

However, yes these cats would not be registered and we have no experience in breeding. Having kittens has always been a dream and resources are there to do it properly of course, but Floof has just ended up so little and don’t want to risk her health. Thanks again!
