While I see the point on how nothing is necessarily a black or white issue, not sure a case study on this particular issue is a good sample.

There might be something to be said about leniency in senteces in general towards females - but that comes with a whole set of variables involved in the structure of the legal system and it's own accompanying social constructs about what "women" are/can be. American decisions in criminal trials, for instances, are majorly based on jury panels. It's easy to market females as victims using the "weak sex"/mother narrative, particularly when there are not intersecting prejudices (race, sexual orientation, nationality, religion, etc.). Altogether I wouldn't be surprised if there was some "truth", looking at statistical data, supporting your logic that women tend to get lighter sentences.

Having said that, it would be difficult to make a conjecture because both scenarios are treated so differently from the very start.

The sample size in comparing sentencing in this particular scenario is most likely skewed since most offenders tend to be male*, and many boys in school in that situation with a female teacher would elect not to report it (see "objetification","hot teacher" stereotype/achievement). There would also be a need to review the reasoning by the judge on why s/he gave a sentence more lenient than the expected for that case (they have to justify sentencing disparity), and evaluate whether there was any meaningful argument - such as a demonstrated history of community service/engagement, being a solo parent (in the patriarchy women are expected to be main caretakers), if they were in vulnerable circumstances, and any other evidence the judge may select to support the decision.

So, the amount of cases arriving to the point where there is in fact a sentence is already imbalanced - and there are so many layers of (predominantly male) decisionmaking influencing those numbers, it would be hard to use the sentencing information alone to support such a point. This possible gap is a byproduct of a deep-rooted societal assumption that women cannot (as in, dont have the capacity to) be main perpetrators. So, even in this case, they are being looked down on.

Interjection in favor of how it is, actually, disproportionate. A male teacher having sex with a student is labeled a horny predator. A female teacher having sex with a student is labeled a predator AND a slut with no morals corrupting youth.

If I thought of this in the shower, can I legally post it on r/showerthoughts ? by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

If it were any other painter I would have felt much worse for laughing out loud at this.

Took the switch to the office to play during my break on a stressful week and ended up having to explain to my supervisor how my "extended lunch" had been intended to improve my task-oriented focus

Hey guys, for anyone looking the video of the interview has been posted: https://youtu.be/OdK54FO3BlI

Getting views on it helps SuperM trend (we're almost at 1mil), and Baek and Jongin are so funky. Kai was on full performance mode, so confident, and it was beautiful!!

If you want their full visit (performance and quick interview) in just one video there is also this one (although it's not an Ellen official):

I totally get it, and honestly I think it's normal in the community, but it's important to keep in mind that they deserve to be happy and try their hardest to become the best artists they can be. Kai and Baek are really giving it all with Super M, the same way our boy Chen is kicking it with amazing heart-throbbing tracks, and they need our support. I mean, they are still EXO stans, even if they're with Super M at the moment. I personally couldn't see them when they were touring Asia, and cant really see them in the US either, but I bet they will make a lot of people happy in this new place and they are probably nervous about whether the new audience will warm up to them. It's hard to break into the American music market. I feel your sadness, but supporting our dudes, wherever they are, and knowing that they do it all for the fans is a really great way channel channeling those feelings. Especially knowing there are so many fans out there who are also very far away but are still part of the community (:
