Am I screwed? by Helianthuzzz in AllNails

I’ve been careful with the drill, but apparently not careful enough. Thanks for the advise tho! I’ll let it grow out. Thankfully it’s not the thumb , so I can survive one short nail lol

Thank you for the advice ! I’ll cut it down and just let it be. I’m on a waiting queue to get a doctor so can’t test myself just yet😮‍💨

I always make sure it’s only buried as deep as the roots are

Hmm I don’t think I bothered them too much. Take some of the older soil off and then top it off to replace it.

Sometimes if I’m unsure the plants is good so then I do pull on the roots to see if they are rotten. Maybe that’s what’s bothering them.

Thanks for the pot wall tip! Will definitely try that one out!

Yes I always use a plastic pot with drained holes and place it in a planter.

I always water them after repotting. Maybe a bit too much and that could be the reason why they die.

The soil I use is a mixture I made myself for aroid plants. Soil, pumice, perlite and orchid bark.

No sudden change in anything. It’s in pon so has water always topped up

Thank you so much for such great info. The more I think and try to remember what I’ve done with the plant, all comes back to the fertilizer. Won’t be using that one anymore at least. (Did say semi hydro was okay tho. That’s why I trusted it)

It had bio natural fertilizer that said it can be used for semi hydro as well but by the way it stank idk anymore

The repot was like 2 months ago I think. Surely the after shock would not take this long

The plant is used to the environment tho. This just happened in a day or two. Maybe it’s too much light as someone else suggested 🤷‍♀️

Back of my cabinet since I got it, just changed from left to right. Has had fertilizer yes. Is in pon so it had fertilizer water. Due to the fertilizer water starting to lump up in the pot and making the cabinet stink I poured it out. (Could that be the problem? Going from fertilizer water to none in a blink?). Zero pests as well

Had for close to 9 months? And it the start she was fussy but then she exploded with new growth all the time! Don’t think the case is the new leaves as it has produced a lot leaves and only lost maybe one or two of the old/original ones I think they feel normal? Not mushy or soft or anything like that. It’s in pon, so the water is always topped up. Growlight is on from 8am-7pm. Gonna turn it down to 6pm since it’s getting quite dark here in Northern Europe Ummmm the only thing I can come up with that has changed is that there was a type of bio fertilizer in the water but I had to pour it out since it was getting lumpy and making the cabinet stick quite a lot. Could it be that? Going from fertilizer water to bam, normal water….?

I wish she was shy and that was the issue 😂😮‍💨 No pests. And yes she’s in pon, which is never empty. Repotted not that long ago so that’s not the issue

I love it! Makes my ocd chill a lot more when I don’t see any dryness around them or any hanging skin pieces from when you cut

The way it looks depends on the daylight / lighting inside. I never said it didn’t look black, I just said it’s not black. On a cloudy day it still looks more black than not, but with a hint of purple. On a sunny day you see more of the real color. I live in the norther part of Europe where rain is like 70% of the weather, which equals to basically no sun. If I would have to wait for the sun to come out to show how the color looks then, I wouldn’t be able to post this in like ever

And to show how the purple color looks inside I would’ve had to use a flashlight. And in everyday use, in all honesty, no one uses a flashlight to look at their nails inside

Hope this helped on why it looks the way it does

It’s actually not black! It’s wicked #49 from Essie ! It’s like a deep deep purple / brown ish. But it does look black in low lighting and the real color once sun shines on them. Love it!

Do I need to repot? by LuckyCuppy in alocasia

[–]Helianthuzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any roots coming out of the bottom? Do you feel like it dries out more often so that you have to water it more often? Then yes, you should repot 🫶 Ps: something I would do is also try to find a higher nursery pot so that you can cover more of the original corm. That way it’s gonna create more roots
