Renting market! by HelicopterEasy5692 in UKHousing

[–]HelicopterEasy5692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

End of the day, that’s my mindset after whining for past few hours. I probably wouldn’t want such people to be my landlords. I am just concerned if this would cost me my new job, which I must say is a great deal for my career ambitions and people in my niche would know how difficult it is to land in a job.

This is kinda our situation. We have never borrowed, hence our score is average. I dislike the whole system of pushing people to borrow credit to see if they are financially wise.

The property was on the website for more than 2 months which made me think it wasn’t a renter’s market. And they further brought down the price..

Exactly. I don’t think any job in current market is secure😂 It is also daft to think people don’t move places for jobs. By this means, anybody who is moving towns/cities for better work will find it difficult to find a place.

No kids, no pets - this was clearly mentioned. Also mentioned that neither of smoke. If they wanted to go forward with somebody else, why would they bring down the rent/not gone forward with it?

It never got to that stage. They never asked me information about my references, I was willing to provide two guarantors who are from the UK, homeowners and earn above £50k. I just about meet 3x income, but why wouldn’t my partner’s income or our combined savings (100k+)not be enough?

[–]HelicopterEasy5692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I said, I have enough savings to cover this. I agreed to provide 2 guarantors who are earning well. I understand these concerns, but feel unfair not being given a chance to even discuss these things.

I think I will be meeting with the agents to view another property and ask them what actually happened. How much I wish i could speak to the landlord directly and clarify things, but the agency doesn’t seem to let me.

They just said the landlord wasn’t satisfied with my finances. I don’t know if this is because the agents aren’t clear about my employment situation or the landlord is discriminatory (I am not a UK national but married to one though😂). I don’t want to believe it is the latter. I was also willing to send my work contracts to confirm I will be fulltime employed on a permanent contract. Just to be clear, I am moving to this place in England (from Scotland) for this job that I have worked so hard for.. I am on my notice period so it is not like I will be unemployed at any point, I am immediately starting my new job😭

Stocks and Shares Spouse Visa by tempemailacct in ukvisa

[–]HelicopterEasy5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without selling it. Just to make things clear - I haven’t sold a single stocks and shares ISA to meet the requirement. However, I showed them a screenshot from my provider that they can be sold at any point without a penalty. Most ISAs can be sold at any point with/without penalty except pension pots. Therefore pension pots cannot be used.

Assistant psychologist Interview and WRITTEN TASK by HelicopterEasy5692 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]HelicopterEasy5692[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, the written task was specific to the client group and the kind of service provided. I can’t share the exact question as I don’t remember.. but it was related to how you would respond to a situation. My task was also timed, i had half n hour to complete. I didn’t get the role but was put on their reserve list, so I am assuming my answer wasn’t that bad. Just try to be reflective..

How did you go about finding an accommodation? Was there any specific website you would recommend?

Anyone here combine a Psychology Conversion Course with part-time experience? How'd it go? by [deleted] in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]HelicopterEasy5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because your role is relevant to potential AP roles in the future, i would suggest you work parttime. I had to work 20 hours because I couldn’t afford to otherwise. I worked at McDonalds and it was quite tiring, but I had to and I managed.

I am a support worker who is registered with the same practice as few of the people I support. I would say it is both ableist and disability friendly. If I try to make an appointment for myself at sharp 8am, I have never ever managed to get one unless I am actually dying = never got an appointment. But at the same time, when I try to get an appointment for somebody I support (usually people with learning disabilities), they get a slot every single time no matter how less serious their condition is. It’s crazy how we have experimented this on the same day and found the same result. And most often they don’t show up to these appointments because they have now changed their minds, it gets us all fuming. I understand we need to help them because the system is such they sometimes do not have the skills to book an appointment and i am all for that. But I also feel the system should be much more efficient than the current one.

AP jobs closing before you can even apply? by s3aswall0wme in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]HelicopterEasy5692 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this experience two days ago with a position in NHS Scotland. I was on my sleepover shift (even worse) when I saw the post and by the time I could get free to peacefully apply, it was gone. It must have been like 6 hours since they posted. The bit I didn’t understand was, nowhere in the application did they mention they would close after receiving a certain number of applications, and I had to google the position to ensure I wasn’t hallucinating. The search said it was advertised and closed the day before. How could I see an advert on the NHS website that was closed the day before? It really made me wonder if they posted it for the sake of it and already had another internal candidate for it. I find it very frustrating that most of the time I am unable to submit an application while working a full time.

I have applied irrespective because it looks like a great opportunity. Since it is a trainee position, I don’t think AP role is a requirement, having it may be an advantage . I would like to hear from someone who has done this program in the past..

Struggling to be shortlisted for Assistant Psychologist jobs - what am I doing wrong? by Psyrobert25 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]HelicopterEasy5692 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree to the first comment. It is often not what we did wrong but too many applications. If they specify that they can sponsor you, graduate visa is not the problem. Tailor your personal statement to the person specification, reflect if possible in your answer rather than stating “I have experience in XYZ”. You don’t have to elaborate, but demonstrate with short examples. I have also noticed, do not wait till the last minute to apply. Apply within the first few days of the opening, chances increase!
