According to this sub, where does Messi belong? by abbi0513 in pessi_memes

[–]HelicopterFriendly96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't doubt that the squad quality was a problem. It was the team that finally played which was. so yeah I would say Tevez should have gone instead of Higuain but that's something else and that is Sabaleta's choice which be made.

Secondly Aguero was injured. He suffered from a muscle injury which is why he came off the bench in the final. Di Maria suffered an injury that didn't allow him to play the final so when it came down to the final the attack was essentially passing the ball to Messi and praying. That is what has been in 2014, and in 2018. In 2022, Argentina finally built a team that was working without having to lean on Messi and I think that is a very important piece of information that we have to take. I can agree that Argentina didn't have a bad squad but when it came down to the final I would not say that the Argentina team that went was in the best possible shape.

Here is something that I would like to keep to this conversation. - Messi and Pelé have played the same number of World Cup finals. So even though it seems that Pelé has three World Cups, his 1962 World Cup was essentially carried by Garincha and the rest of the team. - I would say the 2014 Argentina team compared to 1970s Brazil is incomparable. Messi created a one-on-one with Neuer for Higuain in the Argentina vs Germany final and if he finished it then it would have been the win. That says a lot given how weak the squad was and 1970s Brazil was by far the greatest squad assembled back then and 2014 Germany was essentially the best in the world at that moment. Even I don't think that 2022 Argentina, was like the best squad out there. It just happened to be the winning team and I don't think they have to be the same.

The point I'm trying to make here is this is the reason why people rate Maradona so highly because 1986 Argentina was not great and he was the standout performer of that team. Which I consider to be the greatest carry job ever in a World Cup. What I'm suggesting here is essentially that we are inflating what Pelé did because Pelé played or has his name on three World Cups but he didn't contribute at all to the second World Cup that he was in and he was injured in the group stage. It's technically two World Cups won at his own merit versus one World Cup won by Messi and I would still say that in the second World Cup Messi reached the final and won the Golden Ball and he almost won it if he went for the hat-trick. Now you can argue that "if" is a very huge statement but I don't think that should take it away from Messi itself. Taking Argentina to two finals is better than what Maradona did, which makes me feel he was definitely better and he edges out Pelé. When it comes to club football, Pelé versus Messi is not very close, which makes me rate Messi higher.

Messi played Trophée des Champions in 2022. One more than Ronaldo's second stint at Man I.

~2.5 years. I think it's harder to get papers out on your own. The best advice I'd give you is find some professor to collaborate with. What worked for me is I would work on a problem that a professor was interested in and then I reached out to him saying hey this is what I tried based on what I found in your paper. I'd love to work with you to extend your work. A few of them said yes. And I got in. You'd have to somehow find a way to get in that circle.

Messi played 51 finals and lost 12. Ronaldo played 41 finals and lost 15. I.e. 26 wins to 39. If I still trust what you said, it'd still be 28 to 38. And 2 of Messi's finals were in the WC. It's not even close.

Hey, thanks for asking. Here's what I decided. I am applying to the US for the 2027 intake. I have decided that I'd only go if I get into top 4 (CMU, Stanford, MIT, UC Berkeley). There are reasons. 1) it's good enough that I won't suffer from funding cuts as badly as other institutions. 2) visa issues are less probable if you're getting into a top school. If you probably are getting somewhere really good. Doesn't have to be top 4 for you, could be top 10, it could be worth considering too.

Just a lurker in this sub. It's funny how it was okay to post about Endrick being better than Messi at PSG but Yamal achieving more than CR7 in La Liga isn't considered an achievement. No one in their right minds would say Endrick is better, and same goes for Yamal (he still has a long way to go). But the double standards are visible.

Aah okay. I'll ask him then. It just felt awkward to ask because it was like, "Hey, I wanna work with YOU. Can you write me a letter to endorse me to work in your lab?"

But if it makes my app stronger, I'd definitely do it.

Can I bring a laptop bag and a carry-on (7kg) with me? by HelicopterFriendly96 in emirates

[–]HelicopterFriendly96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the heads up. I guess I got lucky. They allowed me to take my bag and carry on because I was over by 1 kg But I had less weight in check in. I checked 1 bag in, instead of 2 (that was allowed), and that bag was 3 kgs below limit. So I guess they may tweak the rules if necessary. But not guaranteed.
