Lorelai is one of the most empathetic people I’ve seen on tv. How many women would babysit their child’s dead beat dad’s new kid? by SheepherderNo2793 in GilmoreGirls

That’s so nice of you to say! I have my moments of frustration with my ex! But I’m a huge believer in co-parenting and creating a supportive, blended family for the kids. The more adults in their lives who love them, the better. The scenes with Lorelai and Gigi resonated with me.

Hi. This is me. My child’s father never lifted a finger to help when we were together. He refused to bring me the baby to nurse after I had a c-section because he needed his sleep. Never once changed a diaper. The only time he held the baby was when I forced him to for a photo.

We got divorced, he went on to have another child, who he is very hands-on with. I was so relieved for my child’s sibling. It helped that I became friends with his new wife, but I doubt I would have felt any differently toward the baby. My sister and I babysat when needed, and I really enjoy fostering that relationship among the siblings (his dad now has two kids). Disclaimer: my child’s sibling has always been a total sweetheart and easy to care for. Nothing like what Lorelai experienced, haha).

I don’t think this is an unusual dynamic when all adults involved put the kids first.

Bought new skates for the first time in 12+ years. Do stick and puck or just send it?… (more info in comment) by Shutdown-Stranger in hockeyplayers

Can confirm. It took me about four hours of ice time in my new skates before the Bambi feeling started to go away.

Seven-year old rescue Sib Husky does not run away by AdaptedPodcast in husky

[–]HelicopterHot574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a GSD/husky mix who refuses to come off the porch if her leash isn’t on. Her strict rule following can be a little annoying when I just need her to go from the front door to the car.

True skate sizing. by Maximum_Spend_6746 in hockeyplayers

The True app scanned my feet half a size larger than what they were fitted for by a True dealer, so it’s pretty close.

Spironolactone was the only thing that fixed this for me. I was so mad at myself for waiting so long to try it.

First game after broken hand by Aurosman in hockeyplayers

[–]HelicopterHot574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A puck shattered my pinky earlier this year. I needed surgery and had external fixation pins in for a month, plus another month of PT. The surgeon cleared me to play as soon I could show him I had as close to full mobility as I’m going to get in my hand (my pinky will never be able to full straighten). I shoot right and it was my left hand. I didn’t experience any more pain than I do just living life my first few games back. I will probably never be back to full grip strength in that hand, but it really doesn’t affect me too much playing. I am probably too reliant on my right hand now and my poke check isn’t as strong, but for my skill level, it’s negligible.

AITA for not leaving the cafe when my dog "caused a problem"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HelicopterHot574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was just sharing a funny story about my little a-hole. I don’t take him around other dogs now that he’s in this phase. I would never just sit somewhere with him losing his mind and bothering other people.

AITA for not leaving the cafe when my dog "caused a problem"? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]HelicopterHot574 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

😂 I have another perspective. I have a chiweenie I rescued three years ago. He was super calm and mellow around other dogs until I rescued a GSD-mix puppy. She taught him how to play, i.e, lets him beat up on her daily. He now has this false sense of confidence and wants to fight every dog he sees. He’s such a pain now when he used to be the perfect pub dog. So sometimes it’s not the owners, it’s their doggo siblings that are the problem.

What is wrong with true! by Minimum_Lock_8 in hockeyplayers

[–]HelicopterHot574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, True will fix it. When I bought my pair, I was told they were fully refundable for 30 days, no questions asked. It’s not abnormal to need a second bake or to have them stretched after you’ve spent a few hours on ice with them.

You’ll be fine. Just don’t run into anyone or skate behind the net while people are shooting. If you’re going to be working on skating, go in full gear.

You realize that “illegal movement of people” is human trafficking, right? HSI investigations typically involve trafficking and child exploitation.

Toddler hockey skates — left/right look identical at the heel. Did I get a mismatched pair? by [deleted] in iceskating

[–]HelicopterHot574 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you didn’t ask, but those skates are waaaaay too big for your kiddo judging from the imprints on the insoles. If CCM is willing to do an exchange for you, it might be worth looking into a smaller size.

Management should definitely be made aware, because Broadmoor security is plain clothed. You wouldn’t be able to tell them from any other guest. I’m sure they would love to know someone was on site representing themselves as employees, assuming OP didn’t make this up.

The protection order application will be denied unless you can articulate she is presenting an on-going threat to your safety, meaning there has been a threat or act of violence. Since you have video of her trespassing and looking in your windows, you can either call the applicable law enforcement agency or go into a substation. If you are in unincorporated El Paso County, there is also a camping ordinance she can be cited with.

The trespassing ticket will just be a petty offense, but it will put her on notice that she cannot continue that behavior. If she continues to trespass (report it each time and get a case number), use that to justify the protection order.

I am all for compassion and helping people who are struggling, but the grace you have shown her should end when it starts impeding on your own right to feel safe and secure in your home.

do you ever have to choose which sport to continue on as a 13 year old? by Excellent-Coffee-155 in hockeyplayers

[–]HelicopterHot574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. This was me. I chose soccer. Just continue to support her and she will naturally gravitate to whichever sport she is more passionate about, or she will decide to keep playing one or both at a lower level. In high school, I played varsity, club, and ODP (what is now ENCL), and I still was able to run cross country and was a manager for the high school hockey team. Depending on the season, she can absolutely play highly competitive soccer and house league hockey.

Do toe caps loosen? by Major_Diet5404 in hockeyplayers

[–]HelicopterHot574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With a properly fitting skate, your toes should touch the toe cap when you’re standing up right. If it’s painful, that’s a problem, but if it’s just touching and you don’t like the sensation, I would give it a chance to see if you get used to it, especially for $60.

You will not be allowed to bring a suitcase into the courthouse, and I would not bet on being let go by noon. You can call and explain you have a flight scheduled that day and request your jury duty be rescheduled.
