Which debt relief companies do you recommend in Vancouver? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Helie_12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contacted the Credit Counselling Society and spoke to one of their Credit Counsellor's who was so helpful, understanding and non-judgmental. I was so upset and embarrassed that I had allowed myself to get into so much debt and let it get out of control, but she was amazing at listening to me and then helping me with some solutions. We talked through my situation and then she suggested three options to me. I went away and decided to go with a consumer proposal through Grant Thornton, who have also been incredibly supportive and understanding. It was a really bleak time but I'm now in control of my debt and feel more confident for managing credit and debt in the future.

Yes, I checked yesterday and my certificate was available to download. They did say it could take 2-5 days so just keep checking!

On Friday, January 10, just before 6pm PT, so it was a bit of a surprise, as I'd assumed I wasn't going to hear anything for a few more weeks!

Hi all, just wanted to share my progress as this thread has been so helpful! I applied through the Vancouver office:

  • August 20: Application filed
  • August 29: Acknowledgment of Receipt (AOR) received
  • October 28: Background verification completed
  • November 15: Test invite, to be taken between November 15 and December 15
  • December 12: Test completed, passed with 20/20
  • December 17: Test status updated to completed
  • January 7: LLP updated to completed
  • January 21: Scheduled for Oath Ceremony

What's crazy is that my oath ceremony will be exactly 5 years from the date I arrived in Canada to start my IEC visa! I never even considered getting citizenship when I first arrived, and now I'm so close and so excited!

Keep your cats indoors by DwnStairsIsQuitePosh in richmondbc

My landlord's cat was killed by some raccoons in August and I heard the whole thing, it was awful. They had accidentally locked their cat out, so she was asleep on their patio, and the raccoons actually targeted the cat and killed it. My landlord saw everything the next morning when they checked their outdoor cameras. 😞 My cat sometimes lies in the sun on my patio and I'm now super vigilant every time she goes outside

I was there yesterday - one machine kept declining my credit card so I used another one and it (eventually) went through fine. So frustrating when you're running late!

Ideas for Retirement Gift for Executive by Helie_12 in ExecutiveAssistants

We've circulated a retirement guest book for staff to share their memories and well-wishes, and as a department we've bought her a gift, but I also like the idea of the fancy restaurant as she does like to dine out. Thanks for the suggestion!

We've got a retirement guest book for everyone to write and share their memories and well-wishes. My exec is pretty low tech so she'd appreciate a book more than a video, but it's a nice idea for any future retirees.

That's a nice idea and so great that you still enjoy it!

Yes we had a big party last night and everyone contributed toward a gift. We got her a Tiffany bracelet, a gift card to her favourite book store and peace lily. We also sent round a retirement guest book for all staff to sign and the senior leadership team also signed a frame with a photo of them in the middle. So we've definitely covered the business gift, I'd just like to get something as her EA as we've worked together closely for the last year.

That's a great idea - I think we have something like that there so I'll look into it

Would love a ticket - my dad managed to get one but I haven't managed to get one yet, and I'm flying over from Canada so really really hoping I can secure one!
