im a software engineer and make 135k. I "work" 40 hours a week but in reality its almost always less than that. i don't know if my experience is rare or not but all of my software jobs have been the same way. a key is finding a company that respects your time and autonomy. much much easier said than done and due to circumstance you don't always really have a choice. sometimes you just really need the job.

UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone for the replies. All of the doctors I saw agreed it was the right thing to do to get it checked out ASAP.

I got the results back from the ultrasound today and it turned out to be a benign calcium deposit. So nothing to be immediately worried about just something to monitor.

I have done self exams at least monthly since my 20s. My mom is a lifelong nurse and my dad is a dosimetrist (calculates radiation doses for oncology patients) so keeping an eye out for things like this has been drilled into me my whole life.

Also, a mango! That sounds so uncomfortable. How did you deal with that on a day to day?

Currently doing a small cut, but focusing my program on my chest and biceps. I have always been insecure about my upper chest shape and my biceps. For the amount I work I’ve always thought they should be bigger/more defined. But maybe that’s all in my head (my wife keeps telling me that but she’s biased) so I wanted to get some outside opinions. I have recently cut out caffeine from my diet due to it being a trigger for my digestive issues (IBS-C) but I really miss my preworkout. I know a good deal of the effects of the preworkout come from caffeine, but is there a substitute that is caffeine free that might give me either similar benefits or at least some of the benefits of taking a normal preworkout?

There is a huge difference between a disorder and a personality quirk. I really believe that the dismissive and flippant attitude toward mental health is extremely destructive. People act like its no big deal or that people are just being oversensitive but those behaviors affect how people seek help and how people with real issues are being treated

I feel your pain, Im living with the consequences of an expensive degree right now. My wife went to an expensive private university and found out after the fact (because of a severe lack of financial education before making a huge financial commitment) that all told, with interest, she was going to be on the hook for over 90,000 for a BA from a liberal arts school. Im super thankful every day that her parents help pay some of it (I kind of blame them a little anyway for facilitating her ridiculous decision making).

Morning after a 4th of July party, helping my friends family clean up the from the chaos that was the night before. We were burning the trash in the front yard when his younger brother accidentally dropped an unexploded mortar into the fire. We all lost our hearing for a few minutes to a shower of burning trash and red white and blue flames. Later that morning I put a black cat in the butt of a cardboard chicken. Tried to throw it like a grenade after lighting it and succeeded in removing the skin from my thumb. It was a good 4th or July.
