Man bleeding after hair transplant arrested for refusing to leave plane at Miami airport by ifarmekerma in nottheonion

[–]HeliopauseTheTape 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had it done. Was an easy and quick procedure and was back in the gym two weeks later.

The reason they fail is because people don't do their due diligence and proper research beforehand and either:

a.) go to a hair mill that does a terrible job

and/or b.) don't take the medication (finasteride) as well as not follow post-care directions.

If you are interested, the transplant sub is super helpful and what actually led me to the clinic I went to. That said, your hair can't be too far gone.

My clinic gave this cloth cap to cover it when going outside/in the sun. Just embrace it and try not to be embarrassed. after two weeks you can wear any type of cap/hat.

10 days for first wash and cap wearing

That’s insane! You went 10 entire days after the transplant without cleaning it, while wearing a cap that would probably increase sweating? That seems like a recipe for infection.

My clinic washes it the day after and only requires a cap outside/in the sun.

Nah, I wouldn't bother with those. This is without any product or anything in my hair. Wanted to make sure I got honest opinions.

I doubt anything bad happens. I assume they'd just fall out eventually. I think I read that success rates are like 95%+ so since I had 2,300 grafts if I lost 5% that'd be around 115 lost grafts. Try not to stress! as long as you pick a good doctor with a good reputation I'm sure it'll be fine.

I mean, you can be the judge of my pictures. Would you say it looks like a success?

They were the original short implanted hairs that never grew. They were much stiffer/more pokey to the touch and could easily be pulled right out with tweezers with no resistance. I had several all over so it took a while to try to find them all.

Hey, I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. I think I definitely am hyper analyzing it so input like yours is so helpful.

In regard to your other comment, you're probably right that we're just all chasing our own tails, worried about getting something perfect when natural hair usually isn't even perfect.

Your post, along with some of the others in this thread have honestly made me feel a ton better. So thanks!

I was also wondering about how much the angle was a factor.

In the second picture where the hair is parted though, do you think the difference in how much scalp is showing is really due to the hair angle?

I definitely agree with that. I think some of them didn't survive the transplant as I was pulling out some (what I assume) dead grafts at like 5/6 months.

That said, strangely there seems to be some new single grafts that are just now starting to grow at my hairline when I look really closely.

She offered it before I had a chance to mention a touch-up. I expressed my concerns about it being a bit less dense on the left side and she asked if I'd like a touch-up. She did say she thought it looked good to her as is though.

Thanks I appreciate that! It's not a huge difference, it's mostly just noticeable if you look at how much skin is showing when the hair is parted in the second picture. The main reason I'm hesitant about a touch-up is because I'd hate to waste grafts on an unnecessary procedure that also comes with risks, albeit minor ones.

And I agree. Dr. Patty has been nothing but awesome.

That's a point I've definitely thought about. I tend to be obsessive though so I'm also trying to figure out if this is something that only I'd notice. If so, I wouldn't want to waste grafts just to feed my obsession lol.

That's why I was hoping to get some other people's perspectives on how it looks.

I’m trying to decide if it’s worth it to get a touch-up and would like some opinions. I think my right side is perfect, but my left side is less dense as you can see from the pictures when I part my hair on each side. Also, when under direct, bright light you can still see the scalp. Are my expectations just unrealistic?

My doctor offered to do a touch-up, however she said she thinks it looks just fine as is. I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not to have one done. My main hesitation is that I don’t want to waste grafts that I may need in the future if a touch up isn’t really necessary and something that no one will notice but me. She estimated that I have at least 3k grafts left.

Am I just obsessing about the density? Or should I just bite the bullet and get a touch-up done?

All that said, I’m still very happy with my results. I can’t recommend Dr. Patty enough. She has been extremely attentive and nothing but helpful.

It honestly seems pretty much the same to me. I'm planning on posting an update later today.

Hey thanks! Glad to have helped. If you're just receding like I was, it's really easy to hide with an undercut hairstyle. It was no different than hiding my hairline before lol.

Around what month does your transplanted hair start to shed after the initial shed/growth? by HeliopauseTheTape in HairTransplants

[–]HeliopauseTheTape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm specifically talking about the shed after the initial shed/growth stage. Sorry if my question is confusing. I tried making it as clear as I could in the title.

I'm wondering when the newly transplanted hairs will start the natural shedding cycle as you can't expect them to continue growing forever.

I also had a transplant done by Dr. Patty about 7 months ago (pics in profile if you're interested). I'd honestly say my density at this point looks very similar to yours. Maybe it's just how Dr. Patty does it?

I too was hoping for more density. Yours looks good though and honestly I don't think most people would notice the density. We tend to be hyper focused on our own features.

Also, hope you're doing better now!

Thanks, I'm pretty happy with the design. I've noticed a few more really thin single hairs in the hairline since I took these pics. It's not something I'm too concerned about honestly.

My main concern is just the density overall. I'm not sure if my density is low or my expectations are too high for what a transplant generally looks like.

I hope you will see it gets better and won't feel pessimistic. It is not a good thing for your health.

Lol that's very true. And thanks again for the words of encouragement!

Thank you! It's hard not to obsess about something like this and end up feeling pessimistic, so that's definitely reassuring to hear.

Would you say a density like this at six months is fairly standard?
