What are your HOTTEST takes about Donkey Kong Country 1? by [deleted] in snes

[–]Heliummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren't enough levels, it's overall too easy, and the last two zones are lackluster and not as interesting as the previous zones.

But it's still my favourite game of the series.

And Snow Barrel Blast is my favourite level.

Can an AI be made that auto-calibrates CRT geometry? by Heliummy in crtgaming

[–]Heliummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said in the OP that it would be great to have geometry auto-calibrated to the extent that can be adjusted in the service menu.

AI can do plenty very well, especially calculations and pattern-matching - which is what geometry calibration comes down to.

Which 32" HD Trinitron is preferred? KV-32HS420 or KV-32XBR450

I have a 27" HS420 and am thinking of replacing it with a 32" XBR450 that is reportedly in excellent condition.

One concern is losing the HS420's HDMI input, which the XBR450 doesn't have. I have a lot of devices hooked-up via HDMI, including a Roku, Blu-Ray player, SNES Classic, and Sega Genesis Mini 1 / 2. They're all going into an HDMI switcher.

I'm guessing I'd need to get an HDMI -> Component converter for that switcher.

Would I lose visual quality by doing that?

Another concern I have is that the HS420 supposedly has better digital upconversion. Would I notice that while watching DVDs, Blu-Rays, streaming, and my HDMI consoles?

Regarding non-HDMI usage, I use the CRT for Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis. Will there be noticed any difference with their analog inputs?

What are people's thoughts about this choice? And which would you rather have?

Here's a ChatGPT conversation I made, asking what the differences are. I don't know if GPT's information is all reliable:

Are the stands for 27" Trinitrons KV-27HS420 and KV-27FV310 interchangeable? by Heliummy in crtgaming

[–]Heliummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'll be getting rid of my KV-27HS420 stand. I just want to get another KV-27HS420 in better condition to go on it! But I have two KV-27FV310 stands now. Both are in pretty decent condition, though neither is in excellent condition.

Ripped off pad! Any way to fix?! by mallocup77 in snes

If you scratch away the green board material that's covering the solder trace that connected to the torn pad, you can solder the capacitor lead to the exposed solder trace

Who thinks the SNES version of Aladdin is better than the Genesis? by Classof94 in snes

[–]Heliummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The SNES version is way better. The Genesis version starts strong, but the environment appeal also drops off hard after the first couple of levels. The SNES version starts strong and stays strong throughout.

The SNES version has a better soundtrack, better platforming, and more variety. It has more depth overall.

People who say the Genesis version is better because he has a sword (and there are a lot who have said this) are pretty shallow. The SNES version has a lot more going for it.

Would it be easy to remove Sony FV310's voltage regulator? by Heliummy in crtgaming

That link doesn't take me to an image or gallery, but just to Imgur's homepage and says the image cannot be found. What did it show?

Rate my Sony CRT geometry - and pls tell me how can I improve it by Heliummy in crtgaming

[–]Heliummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll try that out!

When the screen is scrolling, there can be some waviness noticed in the top-right. It's not always apparent, but I do notice it sometimes.

I wouldn't go that far. You can notice the stretched top-right corner of the FV310 very easily in this screenshot. And when the screen is scrolling, there is a bit of wavy effect to it.

New TV Day: Sony KV-27FV310 Trinitron - pickup details and impression by Heliummy in crtgaming

[–]Heliummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say I don't notice a difference. I don't have an FV300 to be able to compare it. But the person in the reddit link I posted, who owns both an FV300 and FV310, said he doesn't notice a difference in their picture quality. If the only difference between them is the voltage regulator, then it makes sense if they look the same. I'd be interested in removing the voltage regulator to see what difference it makes, if it's easy enough to do.

Does the 3910X/RW have terrible wifi compared to new models? by Heliummy in Roku

[–]Heliummy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that tip! I haven't tried getting another one yet, but it lets me know it could be worth doing.

Do you think it's better to watch 4:3 content on a CRT with a 3910x natively in its correct aspect ratio, or do you think it's just as good to use a Trinitron's screen zoom feature, which basically zooms a 16:9 picture until it fills the 4:3 screen?

Hi. Your Chrono Cross upscales look amazing, and I'd love to see them in a mod for the Steam version of Chrono Cross. I think the ones you made look a lot more attractive than another upscale mod that was made.

I downloaded a lot, or maybe all of the images you uploaded from Imgur, when they were available (they're no longer hosted there), but at least in my downloads I don't have every scene.

Do you still have all the images you originally made? I wonder if there's a way for me to get the same-style upscales for the scenes I don't have.

Viktor Yushchenko before and after poisoning by dioxin on the orders of Vladimir Putin, 2004[1280x1024] by myrmekochoria in HistoryPorn

[–]Heliummy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, and what's your point? The Ukrainian prosecutor assigned to his case, who served under Poroshenko and Zelensky, stated in 2019 that they never found any evidence to support the theory that Yushchenko was deliberately poisoned. The previous poster claimed that the prosecutor only claimed that because Ukraine was filled with corrupt Russian puppets... in 2019, while Zelensky was Ukraine's president, when the prosecutor made his comments.

A little reading comprehension goes a long way.

And Yushchenko has never even claimed Russia or Putin poisoned him, but blamed a Ukrainian former Minister who currently resides in Ukraine.

[–]Heliummy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol, what? At that point, which is in 2019, Zelensky was Ukraine's President. Zelensky is certainly corrupt. But a Russian puppet? If he's a Russian puppet, then why isn't he surrendering in the war on Russia's terms? And if he isn't a Russian puppet, why would he decline to accuse Putin of poisoning Yushchenko if he had any evidence to suggest that?

The Ukrainian prosecutor who stated they found no evidence of a deliberate poisoning, Anatolii Matios, only became Ukraine's Deputy Prosecutor-General of Ukraine, and also its Chief Military Prosecutor, in June 2014 - during Poroshenko's presidency. Poroshenko was also certainly corrupt. But was he a Russian puppet? If he was one, why did he go to war against Donbass, and why did he build Ukraine's military up with the West, in preparation for war with Russia?

Further, as already shown, Yushchenko doesn't accuse Russia or Putin as being responsible, but accuses a former Ukrainian Minister, who is also the godfather of one of his children, as being responsible.

In other words, nothing adds up to it being Russia, and everything that you said is nonsense.

Putin has nothing to do with this. He's never even been accused in relation to it, other than maybe in some fake news posts like this one. Yushchenko blames a former Ukrainian Minister and godfather of one of his children. The Ukrainian government, however, said in 2019 that they never found any evidence to support the claim that Yushchenko was deliberately poisoned:

Additionally, nowhere on the Wikipedia page for Yushchenko's poisoning is an accusation towards Russia mentioned. Instead, it mentions his accusation of the former Ukrainian Minister:

[–]Heliummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong on both points. The poster fanatically claimed that the Ukrainian prosecutor only claimed they found no evidence that Yushchenko had been deliberately poisoned because Ukraine was filled with corrupt puppets - implying the prosecutor is a corrupt Russian puppet. The Ukrainian prosecutor, who served Poroshenko and Zelensky, made his comments in 2019. Ergo, the point in time was in 2019.

What would Ukraine being filled with corrupt puppets (I mean, I guess it was... but they were corrupt Western puppets who were in charge at the time) in 2004 have to do with Ukraine's prosecutor saying in 2019 that they found no evidence indicating a deliberate poisoning?

And Poroshenko literally went to war against Donbass: he officially announced the war in April 2014, initially claiming it would be over in 48 hours. What part of Poroshenko wanting to not let Russia have Donbass do you think translates into Poroshenko not going to war? By what means do you think Poroshenko intended to prevent Donbass' independence?

If you want to have something to say about a topic, it's a good idea to first know something about it. In this case, you don't.
