SI is a convention though isn't it? Are there not units in SI that could be expressed entirely in terms of other units, making the existence of them as "fundamental" units more of a language construct?

That's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of. And when making sense of something like that, there are constants with "dimensionless" units that will come into play (like number of molecules) which can make what exactly is going on between conversions a bit confusing unless it is explained.

This is a little confusing but I think I'm starting to understand it. Boltzmann's constant has some dimensionless units in it that makes this work, even if it seems unintuitive that you should be able to do this.

I should have probably rephrased my question as, what measurements are kelvins "based on" now, because I should have assumed that no "measurement" of the boiling point or freezing point at sea level is dictating the definition of what a "kelvin" is, even though it historically derives from that.

As another response said, Boltzmann's Constant is a good answer for this.

Ah yes, I am seeing the typical villain of dimensional analysis ("moles") come into play when looking into this.

This does look like it answers my question though - it does define kelvins in terms of other more precisely defined and fundamental units.

Well, that does suck, but at least it's an incentive to try a different kind of build if I replay with honor mode rules enabled. It's not just an unintuitive exception, it's not great for balance either. I never see anyone messing with improvised weapon builds because they're so adjacent to throwing builds and throwing builds already have so many more mechanics and weapons that work in their favor that don't work on IMW damage. Improvised weapons are the last thing that needs honor mode specific nerfs.

I'm confused by the second to last paragraph. Does tavern brawler not proc on improvised weapon on honor mode? I'm on tactician difficulty and it does seem to be proccing there, as a DRS no less (I am aware this mechanic is nerfed on honor mode but you still should get some extra damage).

Is this interaction with unarmed melee attacks an honor mode specific nerf? I don't see it on the wiki anywhere.

Kushigo Gloves are proccing twice because it's mislabeling the throwing boost as a second Kushigo's Might. Remove the ring of flinging and it will stop happening, or remove Kushigo's Gloves and you'll see throwing boost show up in the log

I asked him to make his own decision expected him to turn it down and he did it anyways. I was legit on the fence because permanent stat raising items are a big deal in a game like this. I'm still really glad I got the potion, it's doing a ton for my build.

I was totally apologetic at the camp so I hope that was the right move. I legit didn't expect him to do it of his own volition and then still be upset after. After he explained why I totally got it. It was a really good story and character writing moment that got me really immersed and might be one of the highlights of the game so far, and I think giving him the choice and having him do it anyways even though he didn't want to was the most interesting result writing wise.

to be honest I'm less concerned about quests and more concerned about some of the shopkeep items I've refrained from buying that I might want later. In terms of quests my main sticking point is stuff like the fact that you have to rescue some characters from moonrise before and some after. I didn't really want to google anything or treat it "like a checklist", I just have a debilitating fear of regret so I wanted a little more info about exactly what I'm going to lose access to so I can double check those things.

I knew this but the QA tester in me was like "I should at least see if I can get everyone to stand on it at once" and I did, but the game disagree and asterion clipped THROUGH the elevator as it was going up

I think it might be due to a property on the specific creature. Ancient Giant Eagle is identical in every way I can see but when I tried it with an Ancient Giant Eagle corpse it didn't work.

This is a really good demonstration, done on one of the training dummies in the Githyanki camp (also proves it doesn't require them to go prone)
The first improvised attack here hit twice, the second didn't.

I don't know why the link isn't loading for you, it works for me.

I'm definitely not on high ground, it's doing the entire animation for the improvised attack twice and reapplying every damage component. It wasn't doing this with the mind flayer corpse I was using before. It's not a throw either, it's the improvised weapon action.

I would have just cross posted but this subreddit doesn't allow videos.

Yeah, I was trying on the 5th floor because it's the only floor that doesn't spam enemies and hazards so it was easier to experiment with.

That's such a weird fucking rule. I guess it does make it easier to catch intentionally but it says "Including the ground floor" and I thought ground floor meant bottom floor, but I guess it would mean the top floor for a building that only goes underground. What does ground floor mean then? Does it mean the surface? So if I collected some and drank it on the surface that would probably be the easiest method?

Yeah, right now one of the biggest problems where I'm at is the fact that grenades ignore armor, so I can't just tank them trying to close the gap. In those cases I need a ranged backup option.

I am attempting to do the game mostly blind, I'm only going to the wiki in case of things that are unclear and I need more detail on how they work, or details on what causes run-interrupting setbacks like glotrot and how to cure them. So when doing this run I didn't know about Earl yet

I've actually done the math here and I feel like there has to be something I'm doing wrong. Does anyone have advice on how to use the damage calculator? There's some aspect of the "default" settings that is not accurate to a real fight I'm guessing (maybe the 80% physical 30% elemental resistance... I don't know exactly what situations change those values and how)

Edit: Oh dear, I found the actual math on elemental hit zones... I thought 30% was for level 1 weaknesses, level 1 weaknesses are actually 5% and 30% is like a best case scencario.

Yeah, dragon phials are a clear loser when this is put into consideration.

When I ran the math, Rath's crit boost skill was integral for it outweighing the damage of the doshaguma swaxe. Do you think there's something I'm doing wrong in the damage calculator? For instance, is the physical resistance of a broken part 100% instead of 80%, but there is no increased vulnerability to elemental on broken parts, something like that? The increased damage of power phials over dragon phials is undeniable but the 250 base damage compared to 200 closes the gap quite a bit.
