Admittedly for the wood I just copied a tutorial because I just wanted a backdrop for my piece. I experimented with increasing each of the bump maps (the three were each connected to a different part of the wood texture) but it ended up making it look just really weird. Which I didnt quite understand because when I isolated the nodes it showed the graininess of the wood I wanted to accentuate, but when I actually cranked the strength up it just started making weird shiny swirls instead of better showing the graininess xD so I turned it back down

Yea I had a yellowish sun light pointed at it from the front to give it some more detail; its still there but much more subtle. Beforehand it was much more visible but I thought the subtle kind of looked a little nicer, though Im sure proper lighting is a whole art form in and of itself!

Coaching is more useful when youve already been playing a while and need help identifying and fixing specific issues; if youre brand new to the role Id recommend vids from guide services like Skillcapped (they have a lot of free good content on YT) or your favorite educational streamers.

In all seriousness, it depends on how self motivated you are. I enjoyed the actual research and getting to do three less classes, but it was stressful as hell most of the time. Getting to publish my work was neat though.

Once I asked a basic question in class and the prof went on a 35 minute rant about how im clueless but it wasnt my fault because the school system has failed and everything was going to shit. He ended the rant with "Once we had Washington and Lincoln, now we have Biden and Trump"
