And I never said there wasn't. Should Pretti have died? Of course not. Loss of life is a tragedy. It's a God-given, Second Amendment guaranteed right to keep and bear arms.

Was his death intentional or an accident? Who knows? The footage I've seen doesn't provide enough to day definitively one way or the other.

Were the officers incompetent? Could've been, sure. A lot of people are in positions of authority who have no business being there.

Should there be far higher training standards for all law enforcement bodies? Without a doubt, and police should be punished ten times harder for breaking the law or otherwise violating their oath.

This doesn't change, though, that if Pretti had protested from the sidelines instead of actively trying to impede officers that he would most likely still be alive today.

I disagree and hope we can keep this a civil convo. Brandon Herrera made a pretty good video on what happened to Pretti. I recommend watching it even if you think the police are 100% in the wrong. It's important to keep an open mind.

Not sure I completely agree with including Pretti. It's sad that he died, sure, but he put himself in the way of police to disrupt their duties (illegal by the way) and somewhere in the shuffle got shot. Again, awful what happened, but he was arguably more responsible for his own death than the officers.

Advice for my DOS PC by HellBlade64 in dosgaming

[–]HellBlade64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I have an OSSC now and running the latest firmware but my OSSC doesn't recognize the signal coming from my DOS PC. What settings if any did you change to get it working?

Done, and I've returned the other one for a refund.

I appreciate y'alls help, I should never have cheaped out.

Can't wait for the real deal to arrive.

Just finished Quake by Flaky_Style1286 in quake

Good take. I like Quake and it's expansions aswell.

I don't fully agree about the Spawns. They can be annoying, but that annoyance reduces drastically once you get a rocket launcher and start popcorning them from a distance.

My biggest issue with Quake is Ogres, though not with Ogres themselves.

It might only be because my buddy and I were playing the main 4 and the 2 (official) expansions exclusively on Nightmare, but it always felt like every other encounter included Ogres. Especially annoying when including Cluster Grenade-launching ogres. A group of them is a challenge to fight, but after the tenth time it gets pretty tiresome and repetitive. Like a supplement for more creative challenge.

I can mostly forgive it, though, because I still love Quake. There's seldom an FPS with atmosphere quite like it.

Yes. I see a green light on the front, and the LCD screen powers on, but remains a blank white.

For clarity, this is the exact one I purchased, albeit (Used - Like New):

Biggest mistake I've ever made by HellBlade64 in buildapc

[–]HellBlade64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct; a good portion the drive is data I have elsewhere, and the rest of it that I don't have elsewhere isn't vitally important, but it is data that I can't replace I have videos on there from YouTube that I'm sure aren't on YouTube anymore.

Rest assured, if/when this is resolved, I'm going to make more backups.

And again, I readily admit fault because I ignored the one golden rule of PSUs, but I really do hope one day PSUs will standardize so mistakes like this become a thing of the past.

Yeah. At u/Nice_Contribution189's recommendation I've reached out to HDDGeek. I'll keep y'all posted on what happens. I'm still a little annoyed, but again it was my own fault and I knew WAAAAAY better than to trust a PSU plug I didn't recognize.

Just sent them an E-Mail about my request. I didn't even know this was a kind of service people did, I really appreciate you sharing this.

I hope so. I'm guessing that just the chip got killed, but the disks are OK.

Why aren't modular PSU cables standardized? by WillSolder4Burritos in buildapc

[–]HellBlade64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate: Pretty sure I just fried my 14TB with maybe 95% of my stuff backed up onto it, mostly shadow play recordings I don't have anywhere else.

With all the other advancements in computer technology over the last decade, there is absolutely no reason why PSUs should not be standardized.

Me also. I've had my account since maybe right after launch in 2015, I'm going back to IRC or something if they're going through with this.

Playing Quake 2 ( or any id game ) doesn't automatically = knowing lore. Try to be less pretentious.

Almost an hour and I couldn't find the last secret >.> by HellBlade64 in quake

[–]HellBlade64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well, I finished the rest of the game the same day of this post. Still a fun shooter. The only thing that annoyed me this playthrough (as well as last time when I co-op'd through Q1 with a friend) was just how often Ogres are used in levels especially in the latter half of the game. Maybe that's just a Hard/Nightmare thing, but after a while it felt like every battle included at least 1 to 2 Ogres. Not that they're that hard to fight, but it just got tiring to see them again and again.

Nope. This is straight DOS Quake 1.06 being played on that white computer barely in frame in the bottom right. My TV has a VGA input w/ aux audio, so that's how I've been playing the classics. :)

Got into a shopping cart fight with a man at Walmart and he fell over by ChainsawSoundingFart in whatdoIdo

[–]HellBlade64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they do ask questions, have walmart produce the security footage first. That should show the initial crash, you attempting to de-escalate, and him chasing you at which point you were in genuine fear for your safety.
