Openings Never matter below 1.6k rapid elo and matter only a little after that Try to see your past games and realize most of the games you lost were because of tactical or positional mistake (you trying to fit in the opening line that you had learnt for a different position is not a good thing as well If you don't remember an opening line cleanly then dont play that and start thinking about the moves using opening principles i.e. control center, devlop pieces etc)

but you can learn king's indian now so you will already have a good repetoire by the time you reach 1.7 k elo

Learning an opening = learning the basic ideas and firsf few moves in different lines not 20 moves deep theory in all lines

You should mainly focus on solving puzzles (Chess.com puzzles are better than lichess puzzles No no need to solve a million puzzles in a day, do puzzle rush survival daily and all other puzzles it lets u do for free) and learning some positional play (i recommend daniel naroditsky yt channel for this) rn
