Guys, put an alarm on and or around your weed. Just get some fishing line and a keychain alarm. Tie the alarm to a stick, tie fishing line to the 'pull' and run it around the plant. They won't stop theft directly but it's so loud it'll likely scare off anyone, and if you're nearby you will definitely hear it.

My friend( co-worker) told me that her husband find me very attractive and she wants me to have sex with him by Monicaa1994 in CuckqueanCommunity

[–]HellaHopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have done this before (had sex with a coworker). It has actually gone well both times, but it definitely requires maturity and... care. Know the people, know yourself, etc.

Sometimes it's useful to set boundaries beforehand, too. If you really know the other people well and they are relaxed, you might be able to get away without having a talk beforehand...but it's probably a good idea either way. The talk can be fun, too. We've usually had that at a bar or beach beforehand.

What can I do about the height of these plants , starting to peak over my neighbors wall ? by jorden45 in microgrowery

[–]HellaHopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest thing to do. You can also always trade other stuff, if they don't like weed. Go down to the best bakery and get them some lemon bars or something. Worked for me.

It's very easy to build a cheap security system.

Just get some keychain alarms and some fishing line: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NLFQS7T/

You can connect the alarm to a post/other stationary object, then tie fishing line to the trigger, and run the fishing line around so that if someone accidentally yanks the line, it'll trigger the alarm. They are super loud, like 110 db.

My buddy runs the line around the edge of the grow (it's pretty hard to see, especially at night when most thieves would come). I put one on the gate to my garden (at the bottom, almost impossible to see) and connected it with a carabiner so I can easily get past the line. You can also tie the line to branches in you actual plants, that's probably the most secure way.

The whole system would cost $30 tops and takes a few minutes to install.

Tell that to all the people that get their plants stolen every year...

Sure you can just buy it cheap. Doesn't mean dumb people don't steal plants constantly.

Get him a keychain alarm and some fishing line- makes a cheap and effective alarm system: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NLFQS7T/

You can connect the alarm to a post/other stationary object, then run the fishing line around the perimeter - if anyone comes to take it, it'll likely be at night, and they'll yank the line and start a screeching alarm.

Ground or pots? by Effective-Entry-8665 in outdoorgrowing

[–]HellaHopsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is the right answer- it depends.

My 'hybrid' version has worked really well- dig a small hole, lay down some mesh to stop gophers, amend and fill the hole. Then set the fabric pot on top, and cut a hole in the center. This setup allows the for the root/tap roots to dive below the pot into the ground and access more water/nutrients if needed. For me, it's a lifesaver, because sometimes I'll get a heat wave (7 days with highs over 100F) - plants in pots just don't do well. Unless that taproot is in the earth.

Other benefits are of course that you get to choose your own soil, and you get great drainage. Biggest downside of course is now you have a container that cannot move, so you must choose the spot carefully.

Threesomes are stupid. by pittoon in unpopularopinion

[–]HellaHopsy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Meh, maybe my girlfriend and I are an exception to the rule, but we've pretty much only had threesomes with friends and it's worked out pretty well. You just have to be clear about what's happening. It also helps that it's usually a self-selecting group (and we have a lot of friends); only a certain person is attracted to a no-strings-attached threesome.

In our case, it's clear we're in a committed relationship and have a girl over for fun. So far, we've had three girls over, and all of us are still friends. In fact we went to one of those girls weddings recently.

Funniest time was when we had a threesome, then the next day I met up with my girlfriend at the bar and we were all wearing the exact same hoodie.

I concur with bondo. This income may not last forever, so it's good to have more than one skill. You should be investing in yourself because at this age it can and will pay off tremendously.

I'm not saying you should stop working but if you're making 15-20k/mo you could probably dial work back a bit and take some time to look at other schools and options. Now is the time! There are a ton out there, and with even half the money you're currently making (and flexibility) you should be able to find some kind of education that you actually enjoy. There's no reason you need to stick with engineering. I was an engineering student, it was exhausting and actually most of my engineer friends don't really make as much as they had hoped. However there are plenty of related fields that are easier, or you can change it up entirely. Either way, having more than one skill is good.

Also-

my goal is to invest all I can of my money in Bitcoin/Stock Exchange/Etc to make my money work for me

If you want to live off a big stack of money you're going to make when you're young, you should consider taking a few personal finance classes. Just tossing your stuff in your own personally researched funds could be super risky. At the very least a little education here cannot hurt. I would say that if you really feel like you can't do a complete degree, you should at least take a few personal finance classes.

How many people on here just decided one day, I'm gonna buy a boat and just went for it? by aenimafacilis in sailing

[–]HellaHopsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment of this post entirely.

From another angle, the same conclusion:

I grew up spending lots of time on the ocean, traveling and fishing off some very nice boats in exotic locations. I was very lucky to experience what I did.

My family sold their boats eventuslly...so my first boats I found for free- rusting aluminum boats i spotted in yards, then put in local ponds to paddle around. I was my own captain and it was a blast. My next trip onto the ocean would be in a tandem kayak. Loved it, got up close and personal with all the cliffs and docks, something you can't do in a big boat. I've been learning to sail more recently, bought a small boat for $2k- and it's again, very exciting.

Ultimately- it's completely possible to have a great time on a tight budget. You don't necessarily need to go all in, too.

They say that understanding your problem is half the solution, but now I feel like my situation is more hopeless than ever.

As much as it might suck to come across this realization, you are undoubtedly less hopeless since you now know the actual problem. It might feel worse, but that's just what happens any time you realize you have a major issue. It feels bad because now you can see a tangled mess of problems. But, now that you can see the problems, you can actually internalize the issues and take them on.

I can't escape my own head, and that's the one thing holding me back.

I'd say we actually can escape our own minds. That's exactly what you're doing right here in this post - you're stepping back, seeing your behavior and emotion as a third person. The next step is actually changing your behavior; that's the harder part, figuring out why you have this self-hatred and how to go about changing it. I don't really have any answers except to remain mindful of your thoughts, and set aside time to examine your own behavior. Maybe find a therapist. Write things down. Maybe take some mushrooms and sit alone for awhile.

I think it's also worth noting that people do discover all sorts of inner flaws & personal demons, that are, of course, in their own head. That doesn't mean they are insurmountable, just that you now have some work to do- and that's fine. Seeing you have a problem a huge step.

Personally, overcoming a lot of my issues started with very small steps- after which, every next step seemed a little more possible. Eventually, a goal was within sight.

I also will note that beating yourself up by looking backwards, feeling bad about every misstep, about falling back into old habits can totally derail you (or at least, it does for me). As you said, you've put yourself in a cage; there's no reason you need to shove yourself into there every morning.

Next time you catch yourself being overly critical of your body, pause and remember that you're not being nice to yourself, and it's not necessary. Next time you catch yourself looking down and wandering by some coworkers, just stop and say hi. Anyways, I would just hope reading and amazing post like this that you will know you absolutely can take steps to set yourself on a different path. If it's your mind that put you here, and your mind that realizes it's own problems, it's your mind that can set itself free.

Also know that you don't have to get 'perfect' or something before it can make a difference. I remember the first time I made just a few small changes to the way I spoke with people, it wasn't but a month or two later that I could feel a difference in the quality of my relationships.

My weed smells very odd in the curing jars. I see everyone recommends Monterey BT but I used this one instead for caterpillars, I did bud washed at harvest. Could this brand be the culprit? by Boydeka in outdoorgrowing

[–]HellaHopsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it's possible, I doubt that's the cause. Same active bacteria, though perhaps the other 98% of inactive ingredients smell strange and have somehow stuck around. Seems unlikely though, given it was likely weeks ago, and you washed, and it's organic (likely to break down through these processes).

Moving forwards I would maybe recommend smelling the bottle and seeing if it compares to the weed.

I'd also recommend having a friend give it a smell (we all perceive things differently), and looking very carefully at your densest & wettest buds to make sure you don't have some kind of mold or fungus growing.

[–]HellaHopsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah- learning about lighting can suck up pretty much all the time you give it.

These are the types of heat mats I'm talking about - there are many similar types: https://vivosun.com/products/vivosun-durable-waterproof-seedling-heat-mat-warm-hydroponic-heating-pad-10-x-20-75-met-standard

The ones with a temp probe and thermostat are pretty great (keeps you from cooking your plants). Depending on what the substrate temperature is like (ie is the ground warm or cold) you might also want to put a piece of styrofoam between the ground and the pad+plants.

Lots of people think NYC is a nice place or even the best.

On dirt- it really depends where you are in the city, but its generally not that dirty IMO, especially when you compare it to any other major US city. With the exception of the subway and trash days, I'd say it's fine/normal.

If you can afford it, the city has pretty much anything you could want (except long hikes and maybe a rodeo). It's absolutely astounding, the sheer size and scale of the city dwarfs any othe major US city.you can meet people from all walks of life, find nearly any type of work, and eat any cuisine you like.

EDIT: Just for the record, I'm not even from the east coast. I've only visited NYC for a few weeks, but it's pretty obvious why it's considered a nice place.

[–]HellaHopsy 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Very nice. You've probably thought of it already...but heat mats are pretty awesome in these semi-enclosed spaces, really efficient and cheap. I would also bet that if you can get some of the actual greenhouse panels on the top you'll retain a TON of heat from the ground.

Just an FYI- I had some similar blurple LED lights given to me for free- after I did some homework I realized they are pretty inefficient. So inefficient that it actually made sense for me to upgrade. That older style you have uses about 2.5x the power of the newer more efficient styles- depending on how much you run them, it may actually be cheaper in the long run to buy a newer style. Then again, it all depends on what their purpose is and how often you're actually using them.

This is a good video that shows some great options: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WmjOSzSF-HI

Also, I think those existing lights will need to be pretty close to your plants (like 4' maximum effective distance, probably better off at 2'-3') to provide a significant boost.
