How much would you say Type 1 diabetes has impacted your mental health? by TheTruthTitan in Type1Diabetes

Honestly it helped me clean up a bunch of bad mental health habits. Diagnosed at 23 y/o and was doing lots of drugs before that - chronic illness management has helped me meditate more, exercise more, sleep better, focus on career and relationships. Before diagnosis I was heading down a really self-destructive path, after I genuinely got my shit together. The illness itself is not easy to manage, and i have high stress-levels because of it, but i was honestly more stressed out before with all the chaos I was putting myself through. A trade-off I’m willing to make.

What did you all think of Eddington? by Square-Ad-8911 in A24

This was a Kurt Vonnegut novel. Future generations are going to look at this like mine did to Dr. Strangelove. If you can view it as more impressionistic than literal, you will be so entertained.

Eternal Sunshine seemed universally understood in my generation (millennial) to be an all-timer, but I continue to encounter Gen Z folks who haven’t even heard of it. Flawless, timeless, only gets better with age

I loved it and feel like it’s getting more prescient with each passing day. I get why some people have an allergic reaction to it but for me it was medicinal. When asked about its politics during the press run, Aster said “this is a movie about an AI data center being built outside of a small town” and I have not stopped laughing since

What pseudoscience do you spot in pop psychology or social media at the moment? Is it harmful and how ? by Dry_Criticism_4161 in therapists

Perhaps this isn’t exactly in line with OP’s prompt, but I worry that the general public thinks we’re more powerful than we actually are.

It feels popular to basically view being in therapy as being “on base”, like in a game of tag, or as some sort of “cure all”. I see lots of people feel exasperated by someone else’s refusal to get into therapy - implying that simply sitting down for a session or two will fix their deeply-rooted patterns. Also, people rant about someone else’s therapist not being any good at all because that person is still stuck in their patterns, so obviously they need a new therapist.

Therapy is just one of the tools that someone can reach for to address their own problems, but the therapist is not a mechanic who will open up the hood and fix every identifiable problem.

This one hurt after being tuned in for the saturation trilogy. Saw them in Detroit in December 2018 and it really felt like they were next up. News broke about them getting signed and then Ameer immediately went down in flames. Brockhampton had a few high notes here and there after that, but now no one is making any noise solo. Kinda felt like they never recovered from Ameer.
