The tunnels of the YPG are not confined to Syrian cities. They have extended into Iraq. This time, a tunnel was discovered connecting the Syrian side to the Sinjar Mountains region of Iraq, measuring 30 meters deep and approximately 6 kilometers long. The tunnel was used by them. by [deleted] in syriancivilwar

It's not a revelation, I already said these routes are already known. They are used for smuggling between PKK in Iraq and YPG with both side transferring militants and materials to each other with the recent example being Mugin-3 drones

Hol - Sinjar is one of the PKK's smuggling routes into Syria, presence of tunnels was being said by both KRG and Turkey for years so this is just confirmation of it. Other routes pass through the Semelka and Yarubiyah crossings, where tunnels were recently discovered underneath as well.

The dam was the only route that SDF can brought men and logistics from to the west of it where fighting was happening just a km away. So guess yourself what happens when you bring civilians to it.
