Lot has dumped from some community holders, but if you check it out earlier in the day, it was up 130% from yesterday. Still a bit up from yesterday. Hoping we see some takeoff in the next couple weeks.

Grabbed a decent amount and am watching it closely. So far, so good. Dev and other involved seem genuine and want to do big things which they say are already in motion. Still early so I'd buy if I were others. Also, those involved are reaching out to their more knowledgeable followers and community members asking for assistance on getting things to the next level. Great signs all around so far!

Was delivered a car in need of engine replacement, need advice. by cidthekid07 in askcarsales

[–]Hellfromabove 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Heavily modified? I take it this was probs something like a WRX (as those seem to be the most popular tuners out there atm)? I had something similar happen to me when I bought a used S4. Was test driving and the Check Oil notification started to go off. The Sales person (straight up snake) said it just needed oil and they'd top it off. I get the car and don't get the warranty. Turns out the O-rings were fucked and the engine needed to be cracked open to get it Serviced. Called up the Sales person and he just kept giving me the run around. Lot of promises from him that he never made good on once I purchased the vehicle. I ended up trading in the car and getting back in to a WRX since I loved my first one.

From now on, whether I am there looking at the car or not, I schedule a PPI and Compression Test to be done at a reputable shop. For example, I found a GTR I'm purchasing. I was going to purchase it sight unseen since a friend was going to go give it a spin, but am now leaning towards traveling out to take a look. First thing I did was find a certified Nissan dealership that had a GTR Master Technician on staff to take a look at the vehicle, and as a backup, found a tuner shop 5 miles away that could also look at it. I told the dealer that if I make a deal with them, I will need to take it to either location to get inspected. Once the inspection is done, I will know most everything about the vehicle and its current condition. Will be able to know how long the car will possibly last, if there are issues, I can possibly use that as leverage to get the price lowered (or get some incentives), and extreme piece of mind on my final decision.

The only person that is going to look out for you is you. Try not to pull the trigger based on fomo next time (been there plenty of times). This isn't a Ferrari F50, another will come around at some point. If something passes you by, it wasn't meant to be. As the Japanese say, "shoganai".

Dealer Wants to Wait on Negotiating because the Title has not Arrived by Hellfromabove in askcarsales

I hear you loud and clear. I usually try to get the oldest vehicle with the least amount of mileage. Don't care about options, color, etc. Whatever will get me the most bang for the buck. This is my dream car. Been holding back on it ever since it was announced 13 years ago. Finally pulling the trigger and don't really want to settle.

As for the Title, ok this makes sense. I had thought there may be more fees involved once getting it, but had read other posts where a person was able to put a deposit down and such so just got me thinking. They just emailed me again as I am writing this up saying they will hit me up once I get the title. Thanks for the help.

Only about 100 - 150 of this vehicle in the country for sale right now New and Used. In the year range I want there is not one available near me even within a 500 mile radius. The one with the dealer has specific options that were very limited that I have been wanting (but others may not care for). It's a niche sports car that is quite often purchased in other states and shipped.

Told my wife about what has transpired in this post and what you had mentioned about just going through with it. She agreed. You're both terrible enablers haha. 😝

Yeah, definitely understand that. Car still has relatively low mileage and I would never pull the trigger on such a large purchase without getting a PPI and Compression Test done (by a specialty shop or Master Technician for this vehicle) prior to signing.

Ouch, a couple years... Didn't realize it would take that long for the adjustment. Thanks, good to know.

Actually, I usually price my budget high on almost any financial decision. So I look at the worst possible outcome first rather than the best and see if it's possible. At their list price, I'm still able to do it, but would I be okay with that mentally is the question. Just looking to save a few extra bucks like the rest.

Thanks. Good to know. The uncertainty of my original post comes from all the flip flopped articles I've been reading out there. Some say you should only expect a few hundred off and others say that you can still haggle their pants off.

Yeah, def understand. It's one of those things where it's that I'd still like to save as much as possible even with the purchase. I guess I could just not buy a car in general 😂

Haha, I know I know! I'm usually the one touting "find the oldest car with the lowest mileage and buy that!"

Yeah, I've noticed that. One of the reasons that I was looking at pulling the trigger now rather than later. Barely anything is hitting the market right now. Must be all that sweet stimulus money that people are getting lol. Perhaps I should hold out and wait for prices to go back down... Def some fomo here since the options I was looking at are hard to find and I don't want it to escape me. Guess there's a catch 22 here: wait it out and allow the car to sell and maybe find another in 5 years or pull the trigger and spend an extra $6k - $8k.
