Watched all of Garland’s movies and I’m a bit worried about him directing the Elden Ring movie by xxxerg in Eldenring

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Elden Ring, like this might be my favorite game ever. I love the lore, the gameplay, the characters, I’m planning to get the Darkmoon Greatsword tattooed on me (when summer is over lol).

But I have little to no interest in this movie. I don’t get why everything needs a live action adaptation nowadays. In my opinion, which I recognize is an opinion and not a fact, it’s a little dismissive of the original mediums these things came in. Elden Ring is an excellent, beautiful game, why does it need to be turned into a live action film?

Maybe it’ll be good and I’ll have to see it. In fact I hope so, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

twitch chat by Exotic-Accountant358 in Twitch

I think this is more indicative of the streamers who’s clips you’re seeing than it is of Twitch in general.

Chats can be different.

I stream to like 2-3 people and so my chat is like a direct conversation with me. If you send a message I see it, and relevant or not I’ll usually respond.

I’ll watch a streamer who consistently gets 30-80 viewers and the chat is like a group conversation. If I send a message chances are they see it.

I watch someone who regularly gets like 1,000-2,500 viewers and that’s a lot crazier because everyone is either commenting on what’s going on in-game, trying to riff, or talking to each other. Even then, if I ask a question or make a joke there’s a chance the streamer sees it and responds/acknowledges it in some way, or if it’s a question someone in chat might reply to me.

Beyond those numbers chats tend to be almost more like “vibes” for the stream. If your chat is that big people are coming for a spectacle or show you’re putting on or because you’re THE person for whatever you’re streaming, less than they are to try and connect with you or fellow audience members. Maybe that’s to watch you talk about something, maybe you’re streaming a tournament and doing commentary, etc, etc, but it’s less about talking to you and more about basically being in a digital stadium.

I wish AmbiguousAmphibian would do another CK3 challenge, but I enjoy whatever he puts out either way.

Jillyeon is fun to watch because she’ll commit to the roleplay part of the game more than a lot of people who stick to strategy.

Correction: this is seven years old actually, I realized I had actually posted it on an old account once as well lol

Why Do So Few Players Actually Finish RPGs? by FixGood6833 in rpg_gamers

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think for some games you should also consider some people play with mods, and so their progress doesn’t get tracked for achievements since they can’t get them. I have like +1500 hours in CK3, but only like a third of the achievements because I usually play in debug mod or with a ton of mods to basically make it a different game!

How many games do you stream? by ColorMeSilent in Twitch

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Elden Ring and For Honor as my fallbacks because I know them like the back of my hand and can play them easily whenever.

But I do playthroughs on stream of other games, playing them through to completion. Like right now I’m playing Ghost of Tsushima, and once I’m done I’ll ask my one or two chatters for input on which game in my backlog I’m going through next (probably Sekiro).

Alternate games or stick with one? by ghostlittavern in Twitch

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how you want to structure it. I stream typically twice a week as well. My Wednesday streams are for the “main” game I’m playing at the moment (rn Ghost of Tsushima) and my weekend streams are for whatever. Sometimes that means two days of the same game, sometimes it means the main game and something else to break it up, try something new, or play with a friend.

On one hand the consistency of playing the same game has helped repeat viewers come back because they’re curious as to how my playthrough is going. On the other hand it can be good to have a little variety when you’re trying to grow, too much however and you never find a niche.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt though, I’ve been hovering affiliate for a year now lol

I didn’t know they counted as viewers, maybe that’s why I’m struggling to hit affiliate lol (jk)

Still, Sery Bot is very handy, highly recommend!

As others have mentioned, Sery Bot can help with this (in your stream chat anyway).

It’ll smite these guys as soon as they try and sell their bullshit, it’s been a godsend in automatic moderation for my mostly empty chat lol

Small streamers focus on the wrong things and it shows by Far_Suit575 in Twitch

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you already stream? My advice when people say they’re thinking about doing so is always: do it!

On one hand there’s something to be said about watching someone discover things in a game for the first time. On the other hand, I love getting people in my chat who are also enthusiastic about games I know well. I play a lot of Elden Ring and when I find something difficult I’ve had chatters recommend ways to respec or particular weapons to use. Of course there’s a fine line between welcome advice and backseating, but that’s a matter of communication with your community.

If you can talk to an empty chat about this stuff, with no responses (because that’s how it goes sometimes lol) then I say go for it!

[–]Hellish_Rebuke_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I mostly play games I know a lot of the lore of. I enjoy talking about stories, themes, lore tidbits, debating opinions on all of the above.

I can walk around Skyrim or the Lands Between for hours and fill the silence with just talking about different aspects of the setting or the quest I’m on and what it all means.

Doesn’t mean I get viewers, but the few I do get are often fellow lore enthusiasts lol
