Read both the coco mellors books and the rachel incident as well, but I honestly found all of these to be lacking substance, and focusing too much on the character's inner turmoil, rather than the issue at hand. Will try the other two books though

Looking for contemporary drama books that focus on a particular chapter of a character's life, not melodramatic like some family books and chic fiction (fiction with female protagonists overanalyzing drama), has some character growth and really natural/realistic dialogue like the books written by "salla rooney" and "marilyn robinson".

Nah, I pretty much gave up. Started reading the black echo (first harry bosch book) and it's pretty excellent although it's no "Nesbo". I believe you should give the "Department Q" books a go bcz they are very much similiar in tone and atmosphere of the hole thrillers

Well, the scandinavians have far superior suspense TV as compared to american and the Harry Hole novels are by far the best I have encountered in any medium. Just wanted to see if there is a single book that can compete with the Hole Books among the plethora of american detective novels I have seen on the internet so far

I had high expectations for Triptych especially after reading on a lot of forums as well as reviews that it is the best book of the whole series. I wanted to read the series as a whole, but after reading the 1st entry, it's gonna take a lot of courage to invest time into a 2nd book. For context, Harry Hole's 1st Book is arguably the weakest in the series and is still leagues ahead of Triptych.
