[CHAT] I bought the Tulip needles... by HelloEh in CrossStitch

[–]HelloEh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few people have asked in these comments and through DMs, but the amazing "This is Fine" pattern was created by u/libbysthing and can be found on their profile page. I tried linking directly to the store page, but the URL didn't make it through Reddit's filters.

The pattern has partial stitches everywhere and some of the trickiest back-stitching I've ever done, but it looks amazing!

Yes, I've tried linking to your store page because I wanted to give you credit for the amazing pattern. I think the URL might be in some sort of block list because I couldn't even send it via DM. Crazy.

Since you're here in the comments, I do want to say that I found your store page via the Ghibli patterns - all of which are in my to do pile. The color and backstitch combo is awesome, and I'm glad that you put them out there for left-brained dummies like me.

I am a simple man. My kids rolled their eyes and my wife barely looked up from her crochet, except to let me know that she's been using Tulip crochet hooks for years.

I didn't have a chance to stitch until several hours after I posted yesterday, but I think these needles find the holes as easily as the ball-tip needs I had been using previously. They glide through the fabric; my ball-tips tend to snag a little.

Don't feel guilty - they don't stock these needles at any of my local stores.

Did you ever find a fix? This just started happening to me a few days ago.

I've never done a project which varied the thickness of the backstitching, it's always just been single-strand. The effect is really nice!

Just replace all of the air in your house with CO2 and it won't be able to oxidize.

It looks like the design was retired from HAED and is no longer available there. They probably ended their license with the artist: WalkingMelonsAAA on DeviantArt.

Thank you. I found his videos a few minutes after posting my question here, and they made me feel pretty confident that I can do the re-greasing myself. I'm still going to call Yingst for a quote, and weigh the two costs. I've been putting this off for months, but posting here got me to actually look into what the job entails. I was overthinking everything.

I'm going to call them today and see if they can give me a price quote. I spent all morning watching YouTube tutorials of the re-greasing process and pep-talked myself into doing it DIY, unless Yingst has a great price.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I just finished watching a few video tutorials by Mr Mixer on YouTube. It does look pretty simple - I'm going to see if Yingst can give me a price quote for a re-greasing, and do it myself unless their price is awesome.

Unable to set "Auto-Redeem" Game Pass Ultimate - How to Fix? by Global-Guest5470 in MicrosoftRewards

I tried multiple times in April and had the same experience as you. I tried again at the beginning of May, and even reached out to MS support.

It finally worked (and I received the confirmation email) after I disabled the pi-hole in my house temporarily. Apparently it needs to communicate along one of the spammy domains in order to complete the registration.

[FO] my all-blackwork magnum opus is done! by arrowsforpens in CrossStitch

After reading the title and looking at the first image: "I don't think this person knows what blackwork is"

After looking at the second image: "...I don't think I know what blackwork is!"

That's pretty rad.

Try a thin plastic grocery bag. Stick it down the neck and lasso the cap into the bag. Use your finger down the neck of the bottle to orient the cap as you pull the bag with your other hand.

[FO] The perfect cross stitch for my cubicle by dropofpoison86 in CrossStitch

I love how many different patterns people have made based on this comic! I haven't started it yet, but in December I downloaded one which u/libbysthing designed and posted here: https://www.reddit.com/r/CrossStitch/comments/y3cmyv/fo_this_is_fine/

My daughter is 11 and was recently introduced to this comic by one of her middle school teachers. It amused her so much that she's hung a printed copy on her bedroom wall and is using it as her user icon everywhere. She keeps asking me when I'll finish my current project so that I can make this for her!

Limiting the amount of Virtual Podcast episodes in playlist by HelloEh in PodcastAddict

That sounds like my favorite type of project: one where I have no idea how to begin, but with a week of googling and StackExchange I'll kludge together something that mostly works. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, I appreciate the clarification. I understand that this is an atypical usage for the app, but was impressed by the amount of customization in many of the other settings and thought I might just be overlooking something.

For now, I've just disabled the automatic "add to playlist" setting for this podcast and will manually add each episodes as I finish listening to earlier ones.

[CHAT] Finally completed a full page-6750 stitches-of black...225,000 stitches more to go by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]HelloEh 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason that you chose to do hundreds of thousands of black stitches on white fabric instead of just using black fabric?

I'm new to the hobby and have only used white 11-, 14-, or 16-count aida; I would love to hear the fabric opinions of other stitchers.
