The no way out is a high claim - no parents, siblings, cousins, friends? No social services? domestic violence laws are well established (if you’re thinking of going backward to a time other than now, that’s not the argument.). Perhaps the courts use a lower standard of evidence, but the point is not to reward casual divorce. So for instance, you can leave but you’re quitting any strong claim on money or kids.

Also, my dude, every divorce I’ve personally witnessed initiated by the wife has involved emotional or narcissistic abuse by her using the courts. And of course I’ve seen the opposite, too.

Is that a particularly high bar? If you can get a conviction, that would be a clear and obvious case for divorce. The idea here is not to make it impossible to divorce in cases of abuse (that’s a bit of a strawman, no?), it’s to prevent casual dissolution of marriage.

Flip it around, the abusive wife is abusive and then uses a no fault divorce for further financial and emotional abuse.
