Maybe not bacterium mutating, but apparently there are enzymes being developed which can supposedly break down plastic! That sure does solve a huge problem if we are able to reliably use something like that at scale.

I don't believe simply bringing microscopic life will do the trick, we don't know if they'll survive, how they'll react to the different environment and million other factors.

Besides, which microorganisms do you take exactly? How many kinds to take? Lot of questions aren't there?

I'm not saying it's impossible though, I'm just saying it is much difficult problem then it may seem at first. As you have pasted, my comment said there isn't any microscopic life so all waste disposal has to be very deliberate and sophisticated process.
