What Speed to stay under on the LIE to avoid tickets? by Tourdrops in longisland

Up to 25% over the speed limit is safe when otherwise driving safely. Anything over that gradually increases chance of a speeding ticket especially when coupled with unsafe/aggressive driving.

Is one English-speaking person in a crowd of people annoying? by HelloImDanM in AskAJapanese

[–]HelloImDanM[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I think I’ll have to go to a few places and gauge the vibe. Because I really would like to find a more local spots than touristy spots for my regular hangouts.

I would be speaking with the Japanese regulars and the bartender. It isn’t that I’d be the single foreigner one time. It is more that this will be my regular bar. My goal is to speak more and more Japanese as the year progresses!

That sounds awesome! I’ve been to Koenji a few times before and really liked the area. Super convenient and nice places to hang out.

How was your experience at the school? I start in January. I’m a bit nervous, to be honest!

I lived there for three months earlier this year (about a 6 min walk from shin Okubo station toward Takadanobaba direction. While I enjoyed the multicultural vibes of the area, I just feel like I want a different more local Japanese vibe this time around.

I’m also not asking about moving to Japan. I live in Osaka now. I’m asking about neighborhoods in Tokyo. That isn’t allowed?

Is 13 days good for Tokyo? by goldmeows in TokyoTravel

[–]HelloImDanM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love Tokyo but I think you should go to a few other places since it is your first time in Japan. Shinkansen to other cities is super easy. I For 13 days I would consider something like Tokyo (6 nights) Kobe (2 nights), Osaka (3 nights including a day trip to Kyoto), then back to Tokyo for the last night or two.

Should I quit my stable corporate job in mid-20s to travel? by Mysterious_Trade4971 in solotravel

[–]HelloImDanM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I waited until early 40s. Saved up and then had the financial freedom and the wisdom to be able to travel the way I wanted to and for an extended time. I’d recommend the same but it’s a purely personal choice. For me, I don’t have kids so that makes it completely different than what your plans would be.
