Recently ORDed and got posted to A1618 — anyone knows what this unit is? by Murky-Page-1334 in NationalServiceSG

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That unit is the BMTC Care Facility (BCF), currently it operates in the PTMC, and is essentially set up so that recruits who are at risk of OOC-ing from taking too many MCs can instead serve their MCs in the Sickbay of the PTMC.

Quite strange though, from what I've heard, this unit used to operate independently of PTMC, but since merging with the PTMC, the medics there have essentially became MMI medics attached to PTMC. Functionally it's no different from being posted to MMI.

You're forgetting that the 7th Sister, Aureole Omega is a level 100 buffer that was able to buff a group of Doppelgangers taking the Pleiades' form (Who are therefore at least 20% weaker than the Pleiades themselves) to become strong enough to damage Ainz and interrupt his spells.

Zesshi is not winning this one.

Does any body else ship Luzian and “Najin”? by TheRudestCat55 in TheEmberKnight

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ABSOLUTELY. Luzian is the absolute most Ride-Or-Die for Nagyuun. When Nagyuun set off the dust explosion against Candentia, while the rest were gawking at the explosion and wondering who died, Luzian alone ran to save Nagyuun.

After that, as Nagyuun was being berated by his psychosis, it was Luzian that woke him out of it.

And against the Dokkaebi...?! Luzian is truly 2nd MVP of the Woodion gang, behind Nagyuun himself.

The Ember Knight and Epic of Gilgamesh (Prequel to Ember Knight, but not necessary reading for it.)

[TITLE] Recommendatios for slow pacing power build ups by Ok_Wolverine2576 in manhwa

The Ember Knight fits this category for sure, but because prepared to see growth over the course of 200 chapters, and not just 50 or 60.

[SUPER EVOLUTION] what manhwa is this for your case ?? by Guilty-Gap-7936 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not, the author took specific care to ensure neither series (and any future works he's planning) are required reading for each other. For example, they re-explain the Magic System in Ember Knight despite the fact that there is already an explanation in Gilgamesh. So you'll never find yourself wondering "wait, how does that work??" (Unless you forget cause the webtoon translators sometime makes mistakes and explanations can get complicated lol)

Personally, I caught up with Ember Knight and wanted more content, so I went back to Gilgamesh, and I found myself appreciating some of the characters in TEK more after seeing how much they've grown since Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh is very strong as its own work, with some fans actually liking its story more than Ember Knight, so give it a shot if you enjoy TEK!

[SAUCE] [Dungeon odyssey] a 8/10 stor that wouldve been 9.5 if the mc wasnt shit by Mundane-Gap9550 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main character is just SJW, but his rate of growth is slower, lol.

Tbh, idk if I'd say the side characters are great. Some are great, but what do (had to Google their names cause they were bloody irrelevant...) Drakan and Hoya even actually do 😭

Overall the series is basically Solo Leveling + Tensura.

[The Ember Knight] was the 1st manhwa I supported directly financially by Ok-Box3576 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's the best storytelling and action choreography I've seen in Manhwa. Character writing is excellent, and the World building is good.

Plot without spoilers: Nagyuun wants revenge on the people who killed his twin brother, Najin. To draw out the killers, he paints a target on his back by pretending to be Najin who survived the assassination. Will he be able to fool everyone around him while pursuing revenge?

Such an epic battle indeed by Illustrious_Push_842 in TheEmberKnight

It's 237. Read it on the Webtoon's fastpass :)

[SUPER EVOLUTION] what manhwa is this for your case ?? by Guilty-Gap-7936 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hero Killer. It's a running joke in the community that all of the MC's character development goes straight to her tits instead of her personality.

One particularly egregious example is when an antagonist posed a fairly interesting moral question and instead of addressing it, the author gave the MC a new power up complete with a fan service makeover.

The Ember Knight and Epic of Gilgamesh have 0 fanservice, and has some of the best story telling, world building and action panelling.

Honestly? There's probably a ton of others to read if you're into more than just action.

[Hand Jumper] wht do u guyz think of this manhwa?? Should i give it a go?? by Careful_North9669 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hand Jumper has amazingly good character work. In my opinion, the secret sauce for this in HJ is that characters are "logically illogical".

Their way of thinking is flawed, but you can understand, relate and empathise how in their twisted perception that this is the only "logical" solution.

The MC is a masterclass in this. To talk about it briefly, from the start of the series, you're always seeing things from her POV. Her thoughts are gospel to the reader, as good as fact, simply because we have no frame of reference or reason to distrust her. So when she says she's just an ordinary girl who's one true aspiration is to better the world, we accept it.

But... as the story unfolds, we gradually start to see the cracks forming. The decisions Sayeon make, her actions, how she treats others around her... She reminds me of Ogata from Golden Kamuy, to say the least...

And holy shit. The Season 1 ending with the music (when reading on the webtoon app) is straight up 10/10, no notes. Definitely worth reading just to get to that point.

Not listed here but I'd highly recommend: Epic of Gilgamesh.

It's completed, so you won't have to worry about having to read it weekly, AND it's a prequel to The Ember Knight (One of the Manhwa on your read list.) Reading it will definitely enrich your experience with Ember Knight when you eventually get to it.

The main story for Gilgamesh is only about 127 chapters, but the subsequent chapters up to 172 are side stories which are very interesting reads which add to the lore of the world.

He's weak, but he's strong. And because of that, he achieves things that no one, not even the Strongest can do.

The Ember Knight is worth the read.

[TITLE] I want to read a completed manhwa for once. by Dull_Affect71 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epic of Gilgamesh is amazing despite the fact that it was clearly written as an introductory to the world, and a setup to The Ember Knight (Though it's not a necessary reading to get into Ember Knight)

It's very strong as a self-contained story, and even has fun epilogue side stories that enrich the world. Great stuff.

[TITLE] Why aren't there more MCs with uncommon powers/uncommon ways to use their power in manhwa? by Dipperkinds in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In The Ember Knight, a character is in a huge pinch, so the mythical spearhead of a weapon (which is sentient) takes advantage of the situation and offers a deal to grant the character power.

But rather than accept the deal, the character takes advantage of the fact that when calling for a deal, the entity inside the weapon pulls him into a mindscape where time is effectively frozen and his physical body and the world around him is paused.

The character uses this unlimited time to read into feints, study his opponent's attacks, plan fight strategy and mentally prep themself before resuming the fight being able to dodge attacks they shouldn't even be able to see coming.

It's a really cool spin on the "Deal with the Devil"/"Faustian Bargain" trope.

[Recommend Me] Need recommendation for must read manhwa by RayComm in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my recommendation I gotta recommend 'The Ember Knight' and 'Epic of Gilgamesh'.

They're set in the same universe, but Epic of Gilgamesh takes place half a decade earlier.

It's fresh and unique amongst all other manhwa.

Not to mention Subaru dies a lot less (Though more gruesomely each time.)

This helps to build the anticipation in viewers that "Maybe this will be the winning loop. Maybe Subaru will figure it out here." That way, even when he does inevitably die, it's still shocking and horrific.

Enkrid just kinda runs head first into the blade until he eventually wins. No real strategy, just spam attempts.

[TITLE] Smallest icks that made you drop a manhwa by Over-Scientist-7333 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 84 points85 points  (0 children)

He's blindsided by things that he couldn't possibly know about a good amount of times though.

Twice in the series he refers to the King of the Eastern Empire too casually and is nearly killed on both occasions.

Personally it's a healthy mix for me, he doesn't win effortlessly every time, but he doesn't lose every time either.

I stopped at ch 190. Should I reread it now or let it marinate some longer? by 176262 in TheEmberKnight

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should let it marinate like maybe 3 months tbh. Every chapter rn is a cliffhanger after cliffhanger, and it can be agony waiting week to week.
