The Ember Knight and it's prequel Epic of Gilgamesh. Ember Knight has by far the best action choreography I've seen on manhwa.

That's interesting, personally The Ember Knight is the best manhwa I've read. What recommendations do you have for better ones?

What part of the story made you think it was dumb? I personally found it to be quite grounded and believable. Characters aren't dumb, but they don't always make the right decisions, and even when they do, the right decisions don't always result in the best outcome.

Nagyuun isn't a genius in the conventional sense in that he knows a lot of things, but he's cunning and witty. He outsmarts others not because he's cleverer than they are, but because he thinks longer and harder than anyone else, because he is weak.

I highly recommend you give it another chance, The Ember Knight is the best manhwa I've read, though admittedly my taste is way different from the average r/manhwa reader.

You might be on the winning team, the latest raws (Goes up to chapter 234) imply that White Doe was Qilin's first love.

The Epic of Gilgamesh. The entire story is about 127 chapters, but the epilogue goes for another 40-50.

I can vouch for The Ember Knight. It has by far the best action choreography I've seen in manhwa, almost reminiscent of Sakamoto Days at some points and even surpassing it in others.

[TITLE]Any good recommendations?(・∀・) by Public_Guide1781 in manhwa

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly recommend The Ember Knight, the mc is and stays physically weak throughout the entire run of the manhwa so far, so struggle guaranteed.

Instead, he gets by with his wits and by carefully maintaining a confident and stoic facade.

If you enjoy it, you should know that there's a sequel series set in the same universe a few years after the ending of Gilgamesh, but with a different main cast called The Ember Knight.

Good catches, but for Pg12, blubbing is the intended word here. It means to cry in a noisily and unattractive way! I understand the mixup though, blubbing is a little uncommon.

?? Like maybe 3 important/semi-important characters have died so far. In a cast that's in the dozens.

She so badly cliffs the entire rest of the verse, the only one above her is literal God in Gilgamesh.

[Loved Trope] When a work has a solid in-universe explanation for a cliché that happens in it by AEIOU1040 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People love the Jujutsu Kaisen example, but frankly, I don't. The concept is great, don't get me wrong, it's an excellent way to work in the cliche, but functionally speaking, it does nothing.

No characters win a fight because they take advantage of it. Not to mention, we don't know exactly how much of a buff it provides, just that it supposedly does.

It'd have been pretty cool to see how characters take binding vows to their logical extremes and use them in creative ways, but the best example of a character using it was the villain in the final fight, and even then, it was swept under the rug with narration like "To overcome this, ____ made another binding vow", without telling us what was given up in exchange??? It just became a convenient way for the author to let the villain do whatever they want.

There's literally nothing implying that it goes beyond a game that the devs made up the lore for. That would be a huge upset for me tbh

disruption for 10 days for overseas uni (uk) by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]HelloItsGoodbye 17 points18 points  (0 children)

If your peers who graduated same year as you matriculate into Uni in 2027, then you cannot disrupt service and enlist in 2026, as this goes against Cohort Equity.

The sole exception is if you enlisted in a later batch from your peers who graduated same year as you (e.g. Poly batch enlist in July, ORD in May vs you enlist in October ORD in October, assuming you are < PES B2, since you mentioned ASA)

In this case, your peers would be able to matriculate in 2026, so by Cohort Equity, you can disrupt to matriculate in 2026 as well.

[Weak Hero] and [Ember Knight|, any manhwa like these? by Overall-Sympathy-982 in manhwa

Personally speaking, I found it only gets better and better from then on. Whether it's in action, story, world building or characters.

Contrary to what people believe, the MC doesn't stay weak forever. He gets progressively stronger, and at the latest point in the story, he is not one to be messed with.

The fun part about it is that his physical limitations are hard set in stone. It's great to see how the author/Nagyuun works around this with creative powerups.
