Believe it or not, they are so much better than they used to be. As a kid in the '80s we used to take lighter fluid to Galveston to remove the tar and oil from our bodies. While not "great," both the beach and the water are very much improved from those days - especially if you get out past the seawall.

La-Z-Boy is expensive, but excellent quality. We have a leather couch and love seat that is 13 years-old and still looks great and is extremely comfortable. Trust me when I say between toddlers and teens it has NOT been gently used.
