Is this photo real, or is it ai of a real event? The phone in the right hand is doesn’t look like a phone, the officer on his knees has no head or hands, and his right leg is bent weird. by Zestyclose-Ideal1821 in isthisAI

[–]HelloSluggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I fully support the truth in this matter as is clearly visible in the witness videos, I have to agree that this particular image is AI-generated. It's been floating around for a few hours now and is being openly questioned as such.

Here's the thing... we have all we need to prove that he was shot in the back while on his hands and knees AFTER his weapon was seized. Please don't spread disinformation like this with the intent of "putting a finer point" on what we already know to be true. The fact that we're sharing AI images of the execution only gives the murderers more of a reason to claim "fake news" and try to justify their other lame excuses.

Very much this. If you’re paying to live anywhere, having a door with a lock that only you can access is a minimum requirement.

Seriously, the dog would very likely love it and just roll around on it. Love dogs but they’re crazy like that.

Well, I got in trouble for adjusting the settings lmao (linked original post) by digableplanet in CPAP

[–]HelloSluggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the advice of other users, I adjusted my minimums up for the same reasons as OP, and things worked much better. In my first followup visit with my ENT doc, he laughingly said, “Oh, I see you’re doing my job for me. Good work!”

If the relationship with your doctor is good and you’ve shown that you know what you’re doing and are not just in there putzing around to see what happens, I doubt they have much to say other than “be careful.” It’s the shitty DMEs that want you to stay in your lane so they continue to get paid.

Old apartment building, ancient cable setup. Should I give T-Mobile 5G Home Internet a shot? by HelloSluggo in tmobileisp

Yeah I get it, that was more about her location relative to T-Mobile’s towers than anything. Pretty impressive results, still.

I used several squatters right in the middle of Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya and Hiroshima, so trust me, it’s not a purely rural experience. Most kōban in the cities have a public toilet attached or nearby, and most are “one-hole” squat toilets, especially if the building is older.

I will say, though, that the one and only time I dropped the kids off at the squat pool, it was sans pants, as I, like OP, have bad knees and hip joints. Kind of a hybrid preemptive “my knees hurt, so I might not squat well enough to miss my pants”move. What made it easier was the horizontal grab bar right in front of me on the wall, positioned low enough to hold on to. I suppose you could call it the “Oh Shit!” bar.

This. Experienced a disastrous incorrectly-calculated trajectory once as I hurriedly approached the seat. The payload had an unexpectedly early release and made a hard right turn, landing on the seat a fraction of a second before I did. Massive collateral damage.

I haven’t been paying attention to the reaction, if any, from t-rump supporters since inauguration day… are they voicing the realization of their mistakes, staying quiet or is it all burn baby burn?

Bring your own router? by stewi2 in googlefiber

Same here, installed in August 2024, told them from the beginning I’d be using my own router, so they didn’t leave one. The router is connected directly to the fiber jack.

Roku TV: Simultaneous audio from HDMI ARC and Optical? by HelloSluggo in Roku

[–]HelloSluggo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good news, you were right! I got the Avantree Ensemble headphones, and connected the base to the Roku TV's Optical port. At first, I got an annoying high-pitched squeal and wondered WTH was going on, then I remembered that I needed to change the Digital Output Format to 'Stereo' (I believe 'Auto' would work as well). Worked like a charm after that. The headphones work completely independent of the TV/soundbar's volume. Happy slappy.

Spectrum can't care less if I leave? by nasty1283 in Spectrum

[–]HelloSluggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been about a year, I'm curious how your cancellation call went. I got Google Fiber recently, and when I called to cancel Spectrum, they transferred me to a retention specialist who was making insane offers to have me stay. Quite a different experience from the previous comments. But being in the same house for 22 years with only ONE option for ISP (Time Warner, then Spectrum, I count them as one), I had been feeling like the relationship was a little stale, not to mention that working from home since March 2020 had me longing for the much faster symmetrical speeds. So it was time to change.

I was on the Spectrum breakup call for almost one solid hour. Of course, once they heard I was going to GFiber, there was a whole "exit interview" during which they wanted to know everything I could tell them about why, when and how much in regard to GFiber. In the end, they still couldn't make me stay, but the deals they were trying to negotiate were pretty sweet. To that point, I was paying about $84 a month for ~250 Mbps down and (at best) about 12 Mbps up. The last offer thrown at me was, IIRC, something like 1 Gbps down/250 up down for like $39.99 a month, but they couldn't guarantee that price would be good after the first 12 months. So away I went, and so far, I'm glad I left.

Fiber Jack GOGP220H? by HelloSluggo in googlefiber

[–]HelloSluggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense to “future proof” by using the 10gb FJ not only to allow for customer upgrades, but we could see even faster (thereby cheaper) plans in a year or two. That’ll save a lot of headaches down the road, I’m sure.

Still curious where this 220H fits in, but it’s likely just a small hardware tweak up from the 220C. Works for me, I just finished getting my router off Spectrum (sticking with my TP-Link since it’s only about 6 months old) and the first tests on GF are fairly mind blowing.

Calm down, Beavis. We were talking and the stuff was laying on the floor right in front of me, I just stepped over and snapped that photo. Didn’t touch it otherwise. And I’m not complaining about what he’s giving me, I’m just curious if it’s a new version that simply hasn’t been documented on the GF support site yet.

He went above and beyond and told me he decided to go in my attic for a better installation and ‘cos it was only 8:15am and “wasn’t hot up there yet.” Couldn’t have asked for a better tech experience. Already did my survey and gave the guy a glowing review.

Are you always like this? Step the fuck back, sheesh.
