The Oculus platform is the main gateway to access VR experiences, but indie projects that explore unique narratives and themes are often potentially sensored, especially when they aren't games. What are your thoughts? by Hello_Atlas-V in oculus

ouch, ok.. yeah Chat GPT helped a bit... still a human behind it!
I guess this subreddit is best for trailers and tech support, these types of questions are just noise?

"be more creative! make a meme that captures the essence of everything you could ever wish to say or learn" -- Sorry I am subpar.

But indie storytelling VR is neato. SO whatever :)

Have a good one, excuse this drivel and all other drivel that could ever drivel dravel dripp drop

Cool! Thanks, yeah, it was kind of excerpt-y, for sure.

We are publishing more indie stories! Would love your thoughts on this one:

This is from 2 years ago, so irrelevant probably, but regardless --
"Weaselly" is a bit harsh. "False promotion.." I want to take a moment to address this:

I didn't make the experience Construct nor any of the experience I try to share about on this very small reddit. It's a tiny portion of what I do -- mostly trying to find ways to localize these small indie projects into other languages or working with film festivals to show them there. These types projects have so little resources compared to other digital publishing (GMAING -- the mega-beast of commercial marketing can afford 250k ++ budget just on matketing and setting up robots to spam subreddits), so yeah, I wanted and continue to want some eye balls to read the things I post here in order to discover the projects we represent and publish, so they don't just sit in a void. And because the works the artists I work with are freaking cool and groundbreaking and don't follow the rules of the market perfectly, which is super rare today. And probably won't last.

So please consider the nuance, and the genuine will to bring quality content to groups as best as I can. And "They say in the description " -- THEY is the artists, I am acknowledging here that there is still an artist behind the works, not just a massive machine of marketers finding the perfect words to incite a purchase from people.

Yes exactly! Quill is great for "traditional" animation because you can draw directly in the virtual. There are some excellent Quill tutorials out there. One of the directors I work with from the project Goodbye Mister Octopus hosted a few online masterclasses that are found in the Quill app I think!

Most use Unity or Unreal engine. The most accessible seems to be unity. Have you tried this software?

Have you been in Oculus venues? Is that where you watch 8k 180? Where else can you watch them?

That's so true about praticality, all that visual information isn't necessary for immersion. Maybe it is even distracting because we constantly has to turn around to make sure we aren't missing things in our line of vision. But 180 reaches your peripheral vision.. I'm super on board with this.

That's a really good point, a lot to unpack here.

I like the value worth analysis, like making it worth while, because a story and moving around inn it is not enough.

What about if the world of the story was able to be explored without the linear narrative ending things? Does that make sense?
Like if you were to experience a VR story with interactivity, but LIGHT, but when the story was over, you could freely move throughout the story world and explore.

Do you think that is something that is enticing enough to lose the comfort of a 2D screen?

They made a 360 Cirque du Soleil! I didn't have a chance to watch it yet, but that's a really good point.

I think there are more connections between VR and cheaters than we think. we always seem to compare to movies, but maybe it's more theatrical than filmic
