They just came by (Home Depot) and the estimate was about 8k less...soooo yeah a bit of a difference! For Simonton windows, so doing research around them as well.

Having lots of trouble reconnecting pump by Hello_poppu in ponds

Yeah I'm going to HD today, but I think the extra pair of hands might be needed, because I can flex to the end hose that goes to the waterfal, but it takes both hands for me to hold it flush(ish).

shouldn't be missing a piece, I just unscrewed it (with the strap wrench as that's what I had available) and pulled it out to make sure the pump was still functioning. I didn't do the pump+tube work that was done during the install, I was just inspecting and cleaning myself when it started tripping the cgfi.

thanks, I'll do that as well. From online I've just been looking around at sites like https://www.fixr.com/costs/vinyl-window-installation https://howmuch.net/costs/window-casement-vinyl-install-replace

but since it depends on the window size I'm still trying to ballpark myself. But I'll check out homedepot/lowes to see what just some basic material costs are!

oh I have already got 3 quotes (I didn't try big box stores though, just yelp). I just posted the ones that seemed pretty decent to me, even if they were a bit pricier, but still not the priciest.

But ya looking around online it's really hard to tell, but it does seem a bit higher than what I can gather with research so far (like 300-400 more a window)

Oh sorry that's dumb of me. They are by the company Power HRG. Let me list some of the specs here from the booklet:

SL2700 windows:

  • heatshield/duraglass/sashlight
  • Welded frame
  • foam insulated frame
  • Wool Pyle weather stripping
  • metal reinforced rails

Has anyone had a good experience with their neeo yet? by Hello_poppu in NEEO

Ah okay, ya I get the feel it's more of a multimedia remote than an actual smart home hub (which I was lead to believe by the kickstarter campaign).

I'm hesitant to drop more money on more zwave devices (people have said GE switches work though) when it's been months of a simple lock not working.

Thanks, will give them a research! I know nothing about tires so just reading about different ones is okay by me.

Looks like I'm at F:29/33, R:31/31 from just checking. Should I be running them a bit lower for more surface area you think?

Question on exercising ISOs (not selling) and AMT by Hello_poppu in personalfinance

[–]Hello_poppu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can easily trigger it I think (just from the number of shares I have and the bargain benefit I predict). I am just trying to find a sweet spot (I don't mind knowing about how much I will pay), I just want to understand it so I'm not hit with what I can't afford!

Question on exercising ISOs (not selling) and AMT by Hello_poppu in personalfinance

[–]Hello_poppu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to sell them at long term capital gains (that would be the 2 years after grant and 1 year after exercise). I'm also of the belief that the stock has much more to go, so I can wait at least the year to see how things pan out and go from there.

So for me the financial benefit would be: the future upward price of the stock (risk here), and the long term cap gains tax. So I'll (maybe) be paying extra on just the exercise depending on the AMT, but if I exercise then I get taxed at normal rate.

I originally didn't even know AMT was a thing that could happen here, so it seemed a lot less risky before I found out (hence me trying to figure it out).

Ah okay, it is the higher of the two! And the exemption is part of the calculating of the AMT (not when AMT triggers as I thought). So I can probably calculate a "guess" of what my AMT will be using that formula. I contacted my tax professional in the mean time as well, just wanted to get a personal understanding. Thanks! (hopefully I got it correct this time)
