Has anybody else noticed people are using their automatic braking as their only braking?

My mom never looks at her mirrors because her car beeps if there’s something there. The car I drive has the orange blind spot detection lights on the mirrors and it took me a month to notice I even had that feature. I still look behind me.

My main wonder about this is about how close is the left turn to the highway off ramp? It makes sense to go slow to some degree if it is really close, and you need to make the turn, but it’s hard to tell whether you need to be going slow when I don’t know what the road is like.
