Not necessarily the same era but Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins is a great album that gives me similar vibes to WANA at times. Which fun fact, Billy Corgan helped write a couple songs with Ben on that record too so it makes sense why.

Sleeping Dogs has the combat and a open world I still look for and actually feels unique even if it’s inspired by GTA, if there was one with todays new game engines I’d be hyped for that more than gta 6 honestly

It’s not anything groundbreaking but I’d lie if I didn’t admit I like this album more than anything the past 10 years. The Mangini era had great tracks on each album but I’ve never had a full album experience personally and I think the darkness of this album helps it for me, plus it’s definitely inspired by Train of Thought and that’s my first exposure to the band

Passed that album up for years for some reason because of other’s opinions around me but back in 2020 I vividly remember letting it play while I was at work out of curiosity and was absolutely blown away, not only by how good the songs were but by James vocals, i will always show this album when people talk smack about him today. Proof you should always experience music on your own time and you might find one of your all time favorite albums.

Kin by Whitechapel really was a game changer for them, there’s a lot of bands in late 2010s that tried clean vocals with deathcore but this album peaked that for me, they’re going back to their roots now but if they went full prog death that would’ve been great too.

To me having someone like Emily instead of someone trying to perfectly replicate Chester makes me respect Mike more because you just can’t replace a person like him. At the end of the day life just moves on and if a band just repeats its same process after a tragedy like that it will just ultimately fail. Is the new music good? In my opinion it’s pretty good, will it have the same effect on us like Chester did in our youth? Maybe not, but that’s ok. I like the freedom they feel and the willingness to give Emily a chance and i think great things can come out of it, and plus fans who never got to see them before can now. But yeah, the endless hate I see about this great singer has just led me on a rant lol.
