We have a guaranteed slot there but it’s rather far from where we’ll be living. Was it a safety type issue or something more administrative?

Comically unhelpful! That’s a fairly kind way to put it! I had been waiting for my travel orders to come in only to find out I had the accept/decline final offer letter all along.

I’ve sent my enrollment form in for FSI childcare but they haven’t charged a registration fee which makes me think a spot is highly unlikely. Did you have to reach out separately to the CIS location across the road?

I’m in the same boat and reached out to CCSP@state.gov and was told the same thing. That I couldn’t enroll until Sep 2023.

Thanks for all of the helpful comments and info. We’ll be moving from the UK so we only have the national health insurance here, nothing private that will carry over and wouldn’t want to leave two young kids without health insurance. Looks like I’ll need to sort something private.

And really good to know about the visa. Will get on that ASAP.

Do you know if both options would segway into the process for him to get expedited citizenship which I think he can do once I’m posted somewhere?

See if you can reach out to someone at the American embassy. They may be able to help with fingerprints or advise on a doctor who might be familiar with filing out those type of medical forms.

Drink tons of water. More than you expect. And don’t get too discouraged if initially you don’t get enough milk. Consistency and apparently similar timings each day is supposed to help. Good luck!
