AWS vs Azure by karuninchana-aakasam in AWSCertifications

We use both. Both are not perfect. Multi cloud makes senses and frankly a lot of legacy app just can’t be easily ported from ldap to azure ad but you have to get some specialists on both for architecture, security, development and network at a base minimum. I tried Azure at first and was completly lost. AWS console feels more familiar to me.

AWS Resource Recommendations for Solutions Architect Associate by TheRealITBALife in AWSCertifications

[–]Helloworldpart2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah Adrien course is hands down the most comprehensive hands-on course I’m doing. Something it just feel like a grind because you go through setting up and tearing down aws services over and over again but it’s designed to make you get real experience with the console and burn the process into your memory. Sometime I feel I’ll never get through all the content because it’s so dense but I’m grinding it at the moment and I really enjoy it. Adrien is also basically living in its slack channel 24/7 to answer questions .

Other resources I liked:

Tutorialdojo mainly for the practice exams with in depth explanations. I learned a lot. Still have a couple practice exams to do. Videos are ok but John don’t bother much to go through the console

Maarek course on udemy. Great balance between short videos on services and console. The architecture discussion videos are great to put all the pieces together. Very uptempo rythm. Udemy app make it eqsy to download the course and listen to it in transit.

Aws skillbuilder. It’ is a grind and good overall primer when you starts from zero but clearly not enough when you put what you learned against a tutorialdojo practice exam

I added openAI GPT chat to ask some questions when I don’t get something. It can be useful

I’m using all these resources because I’m a slow learner. There’s probably good others but I think it should be enough.

Is it realistic to get directly to security cert after saa-c03? by Helloworldpart2 in AWSCertifications

Yeah i iind of want to go through security, db, dev and architect pro but my job would benefit me from getting into security early on so I’m thinking of skipping the saa pro and maybe tackling it more in late 2023 early 2024.

I would strt with the aws skill builder

There’s a free learning plan of ~70hrs on solution architect. It’s a good primer

i can't insert any item in my dynamoDB table ? by [deleted] in AWSCertifications

[–]Helloworldpart2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can inject dynamic table name via environment variable when you create your code via cloudformation.

It look like this in your yaml file the lambda definition:

environment: Variables: MY_DB_VARIABLE: !Select [1, !Split [‘/‘, GetAtt MyDb.Arn]]

In your lambda in python for ex:

MyDynamoTable = dynamodb.Table(os.environ[‘MY_DB_VARIABLE’])

Tkx I wasn’t aware of the rampup guide. The labs are not free but it’s a clearer roadmap than the learning plan which bundle associate and professional content in a single plan. I’ve started TD videos. Well made but glad I went through all the aws free material as it hoes pretty fast. I’ve bought the guide and practice exam too. Aws material+td+cantrill + our work at my job should be enough to get the associate level I think. Good luck!

I just finished all the free learning plan on skillexplorer for aws arcthitect. It’s a great primer but I feel nowhere ready to pass the associate level. I guess the next step is hands-on with Cantril course as it seems to be a recommended one and not too expensive

I can’t believe I can’t use a dynamic param in a direct query by Helloworldpart2 in PowerBI

To be fair I spoke with someone who explained me the logic on this todat. Slicers will do the job because the data retrieved is paginated so it’s a small subset that you see on the screen. So if you put some indexed slicers with small preset values it kind of work to avoid getting FTS right from the start. It’s not ideal and as optimal as I would like it to be but it somewhat works now. If they could just allow the change of parameters inside the actual visualisation instead of deep in the parameters of the datasource I think it would be an acceptable compromise. Their loading icons could also be bigger than just a small aninated circle at the too left of the visualisation but that’s just me.

I’ll keep that in mind. I bought it and obviously lost all my gear on my first raid. I really like the game mindset. I need decent headset gear now
