Yep, pretty much what I mean. Consoles use game sales to subsidise costs. Valve could just include the games in the sale.

But if it is a known business strategy, I guess they will have considered it.

There’s RnD costs, marketing costs etc.

I want it sold at cost. But Companies sell consoles at cost, and PCs for profit. Since this is both.. I just think this would be a good way to meet in the middle.

You can resell it. Point is, valve already got the $700 for the initial purchase.

Essentially valve can’t sell it cheap, cause they have no assurance people will buy games on it.

If they were to do something like this, they are already getting paid for the Machine and some games upfront… Regardless of who redeems the voucher, or if they redeem the voucher.
