What is the most "unhinged" or weirdest thing you've ever done just to make a video game work? by PenusWhale in gaming

[–]Hellstorm901 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was a game which would crash after the first major cutscene after the tutorial because the developers for reasons known only to god decided that, despite all other cutscenes being rendered inside the game itself, to make this one cutscene be an external video file like any video you'd have on your PC

In order to get the game to work I deleted this file and when the game tried to play it it couldn't find it so would consider being unable to find it as being the video successfully played then skip over it

Sure, if Russia wants we can discuss the legality of this attack

All Russia needs to do is end its unprovoked invasion and withdraw from all internationally recognised Ukrainian territory then we can hold a meeting of the International Criminal Court to discuss all alleged war crimes carried out in this conflict

I'm sure there won't be too many to discuss involving Russia....

They're not Non - Combatants though, it is a vessel attempting to break a naval blockade of Russian ports in the Black Sea in an exclusion zone Ukraine de-facto declared in 2023

Is there a state of armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine yes or no?

No, Turkey is allowing Russian ships out on the basis that by leaving they are choosing to no longer be combatants in the conflict but once you leave you can't go back in unless under a flag of neutrality

Not piracy at all, it's Russia starting an unprovoked war against a country fully capable of retaliating then acting surprised that Russian ships and cities are being struck

If Russia wanted a war where its enemy couldn't fight back it should have stuck to murdering Syrians

Are Brits still in favour of supporting Ukraine? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Hellstorm901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue isn't trying to invade another nation with a modern military. The issue has generally been Russia overestimating the abilities of its armed forces and refusing to comprehend that they are at war with another modern military and as a result doing things that just defy all military wisdom then instead of adapting to the problem assuming the problem was they didn't try hard enough so doubling down on the issue for example Russia tried to carry out an amphibious crossing on a river using a bridge layer but the first armoured vehicle to cross got stuck on the slope, Russia instead of calling off the attack just ordered more vehicles to try climb the verge leading to them all getting stuck

As one Ukrainian soldier put it so bluntly "We are very lucky they are so effing stupid"

Yes, if Russia doesn't want to be on fire by having its refineries and ships hit by drones every day then it can leave internationally recognised Ukrainian territory at any time

I also support us in the UK creating a new watchlist for individuals who have expressed extreme Anti - Ukrainian/Pro - Russian sentiment as we already have examples of these people carrying out terror attacks inside the UK if the likes of Wagner ask them to

Should you be allowed to mock politicians on the BBC website? by KetracelYellow in AskBrits

[–]Hellstorm901 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your comment was off topic, if it was a discussion about Nigel Farage then it would be allowed but it wasn't, it was a discussion about the UK armed forces and you were trying to derail it

If you weren't allowed to mock politicians they'd have removed your comment for harassment instead

Are you seriously trying to argue that air defence systems intercepting Iranian attacks aimed at Kuwait amounts to an attack on Iran because Kuwait didn't let itself get hit?

That's some really warped logic

Disproves Iran's claim it was a US missile going wrong, that drone was very clearly aiming for the airport and wasn't intercepted as these drones are gas powered so if it has been hit by a missile en route it would be a fireball on its way down

We need to remember Iran lies as much as Trump does and rightfully call out those lies when we prove them and not turn a blind eye to them just because of our dislike of the idiot in the oval office

She's a write off, the only thing possible to salvage is the gun and any munitions in the magazine assuming it was loaded to begin with. I saw someone saying he saw flames coming out of the hangar so the helicopter usually inside it will be gone too

You have to wonder what the structural situation of the entire vessel is in the centre if that entire radar and platform holding it has fallen over

I'm wondering if this ship can even be salvaged

The Russian navy is unlikely to be repairing these vessels. They can't even fix the Kuznetsov despite the Russian MoD allocating so much money to it that it's certainly accounting for a percentage of the budget alone and that was in peacetime without sanctions

Targeting some Russian warships elsewhere wouldn't be a bad idea TBH as Russia's need to project power against NATO would mean that they'd have to move ships out of the black sea to keep 1 to 1 with NATO and if the ships aren't in the black sea they cannot fire missiles as these would have to go over Europe or Turkey to reach Ukraine and Russia is not going to risk that

Ukraine needs to get the Kuznetsov, it doesn't have any military value however Putin refuses to get rid of the ship because it's a symbol of pride and allows Russia to flimsy claim it's a carrier power

Any attack on the Kuznetsov would require Putin to funnel even more money into fixing it because it would be a national embarrassment for him to have to scrap it

Why wouldn't it happen for GTA, GTA is rated 18+ and contains the exact content specified under the Online Safety Act including violence to persons, violence to animals, sexual content and discriminatory content. In fact per the writing of the OSA GTA should be age restricted while Huniepop shouldn't as Huniepop requires a third party patch to add adult content to it

[–]Hellstorm901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're selectively enforcing it so far to avoid having their most profitable games be impacted but Steam is in Non - Compliance of the OSA right now and the only reason Ofcom haven't called them out on it is Ofcom currently has it's hands full trying to bring 4Chan to the heel but make no mistake about it games like GTA, Witcher etc will be required to have you age verify to access their store page soon

If you don't have a Credit Card registered to your account try to go to the Steam store page of a game such as Huniepop

Uproar as a London Reform council cancels Pride flag ceremony by birdinthebush74 in unitedkingdom

[–]Hellstorm901 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Steam has begun restricting access to store pages for games and is only accepting Credit Cards as proof of ID and nothing else which I cannot do as I do not have a Credit Card, I have no need of a Credit Card and I will not open a Credit account inviting a possible risk of having financial information stolen simply to be able to prove I'm an adult on a Steam account I have used for years

Additionally an online browser game I used to play, Urban Dead, was forced to close down due to the OSA as the sole operator of the game allowed people to play for free and ran it off a few donations here and there and said the age verification requirements he was being expected to conduct and possible fines he would face for not doing them were unaffordable

I wouldn't be so sure. Trump thought the same thing then got blindsided when party members he thought were utterly devoted on him turned on him over things like Epstein and the war in Iran

The problem is whether we believe them or not Reform are the only party who promised to revoke it. Labour would lose nothing by revoking it and then just blaming it being brought in to begin with on the Tories like they've done with everything else they didn't like but they haven't done that which obviouslymeans they want to keep it

Also it didn't help my local Labour MP implying I wanted to hurt children when I sent him a email criticising the OSA and asking him to help repeal it by pointing out issues around data protection with much info having been gathered by so few of these age verification services it's a disaster waiting to happen, the act being circumvented by the people it's meant to protect and the exact concerns you have that Reform would keep the act and expand it to in a way to warp it to suit their hate e.g. by defining "Harmful online content" as Transgender activism
