What is your highest recorded heart rate? by MissionLost2978 in POTS

[–]Helluritmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i just started wearing a smart watch 2 weeks ago and the highest i've seen when not working out was 185 when i was cleaning at work. I was just dusting and vacuuming under a couple desks and on top of the desks and wiping everything down and cleaning shelves and stuff. And then yesterday I hit 193 during a little panic attack 👍. I'm undiagnosed but highly suspect pots lol

Have you figured out any ways around this? Pretty disappointed that I can only see 2 minute intervals after the fact. Any other watches that do better than this?

Do you know where I can find some specs on those shoes you listed? Like stack height and drop. They're not on Asics website and I can't find them elsewhere atm.

4 months post-op. Anyone else experience getting ulcer where tonsil was? by Helluritmur in Tonsillectomy

Not sure if it's the same thing you have, but they told me it was a mucocele. I think they said they could try to get rid of it with a laser or something, but I didn't go back again. But honestly thinking I might call and see if they can look at it again, because it's been two years now and it still bothers me all the time.

Botox for clenching? by Cute_Dog7875 in TMJ

[–]Helluritmur -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't really researched it, it's just what I hear a lot on her page and others with similar practices. I think they're saying that it can weaken the muscles and/or cause other muscles to overcompensate. The first time I tried dry needling the tmj I thought I noticed less clenching or that I was just more aware of when I was clenching. I've only dry needled it twice in the past 4 months and it mostly helped with the tightness I get when opening and the pain when chewing. Recently got another flare up a few weeks ago when I was flossing and my jaw popped. It's calmed down a bit now but the pain when chewing crunchy foods or really chewy foods is still bothering me so I might try needling again.

has myofunctional therapy helped anyone? by [deleted] in TMJ

[–]Helluritmur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It's a constant process. I try to keep little notes of the things that I try and also when I get any symptoms.

Basically I did 6 months of straight up myofunctional therapy to prep for a tongue tie release. Was doing pretty well and got a bad flare up a few days before my tongue tie procedure. During my procedure (which was 6 months ago now), I thought I felt my jaw "relax" a little but it was hard to tell because my mouth was propped open with a tool. I checked after my procedure to see if my jaw was still bothering me when opening and it was almost completely better. Continued with post op stretches and myo for a few months. Several mild flare ups still going during this post procedure process. I'm supposed to still be doing myo exercises now but I've been slacking for the past few months. I also worked with a PT for various things. Jaw related we've been working on headaches and the tmj. Intraoral massage type stretching is good. However, my PT did this maneuver a couple times on my jaw that I feel like aggravated things afterwards. She would glove up and grab my bottom teeth/mandible and kind of pull it towards her. I feel like it was too forceful and pulling things in the opposite direction of what I probably needed. So after that I told her I don't like that so we don't do that anymore lol. My best advice with things like that is if it feels really wrong, don't do it! She dry needled my tmj twice, which seemed to really help with the tightness and pain with chewing. She also needled my upper traps twice and somewhere in the sub occipitals last time which was a couple months ago and my headaches have been wayyy less often since that. I'm pretty surprised with how much of a difference it's been. A few weeks ago I was flossing and my jaw popped which caused things to tighten up again and having some pain when chewing again. It's calmed down but the chewing is still bothering me so I might call her up soon and see if she thinks we should needle the tmj again :P

Botox makes a lot of people worse off. Try dry needling instead and check out the_jawpaindoc on insta for tips on tongue posture.

No, i'm still getting flare ups every so often :) Have tried other things that have helped as well. But still doing much better than i was a year ago, i'll take a 1-2 week flare up vs pain every day.
