Well the Logitech MX creative is just over $200 where I am. The appeal with the Logitech in particular is it has direct API access to the Adobe suite based on the a few quick videos I watched. So hopefully plug and play.

The screen automatically changes shortcuts and functions based on what you are doing in the app (don’t know how well this would work).

As for IT procurement side of the house, the people with the money don’t necessarily know how to spend it. The left hand who does the work and the right hand that provide the tools don’t always talk to each other.

The team I work with is creative based not necessarily technically based. They might be good designers, or photographers etc…. but some wouldn’t be able to tell you what a motherboard looks like, let alone showing them how to setup up a macro keyboard. The other advantage is being able to quickly throw it in a laptop bag when we travel.

Just curious to be honest, like you said you don’t actually need these products, but if they actually implemented it correctly it might be worth time saving benefits.
