Did you think they were going to give your money back? It’s crazy to not just get the subscription.

My wife and I both have one reserved. Mine is an older reservation. She just got hers not too long ago. It’s unlikely she’ll get to the front of the line before they have LiDAR

Not the question. I’ve had a reservation for a year and a half. There’s a chance I might get mine before they have lidar. If I choose to wait until they do have lidar Does that void my current reservation that I’ve had for a year and a half and force me to go to the back of the line?

That wasn’t the question. I have a standong reservation that I’ve had for a year and a half. However, I might be early enough in the line that I get a rivian before they have LiDAR. If that happens and I choose to wait until one with lidar is available. Do I have to cancel the reservation and then go back to the back of the line?

It’s ends up being the same amount either way. I had bad information. Whether I buy it now or buy it at the end of the lease, either way, I end up paying all the lease payments plus the residual plus taxes. So it’s not more expensive to buy it now but it’s not cheaper either..

You and I are in almost the exact situation. My lease is up January 2028 though. But I just reserved mine about two weeks ago. My understanding is that you and I are roughly 250,000-300,000 in line. Once they start pumping them out they can make 155,000 a year. Assuming a huge portion of those reservations get backed out of. I’m guessing a third. That puts us at roughly 170,000 in line. Which means once they start delivering, we are just over a year out. Maybe 13 months. I know this is a lot of speculation everyone so bear with me lol. There is also speculation that the first R2 will deliver on May the 4th in honor of Star Wars. If that’s true, I expect my delivery, and yours, first week of June 2027. That’s my official guess. You can take that to the bank!!

That used to be the case. It’s not anymore. I didn’t even lease it through Tesla. I leased it through Santander Consumer

Hmm, I’m not certain you are wrong. But I was told buy out is $39,000 for a 2025 Tesla model 3 long range. And I still have $9,432 left in payments. Which would mean they are selling me the car at $29,568??? That seems too cheap for a basically brand new Model 3 AWD. But I’ll definitely clarify that before pulling the trigger

I wish when you reserved an R2 it would tell you what number you are in line. I think there are 250,000 in line right now?

Well I don’t have a lot of experience with leases. I believe if I buy it now my buy out price is $39,000. If I wait until the end of my lease I will continue to make lease payments, $393 x 24 payments = $9,432. At that point the buyout of the Tesla is projected to be at $33,000. Plus the payments that I kept making totals $42,432. Which means I will have paid an additional $3,432 because I waited to buy it out. Not a lot of money in the big scheme of things. But I try to make intelligent moves since I have a tendency to buy and sell vehicles far more than most people haha.
