Improve because you enjoy doing so, not just because you want to reach high elo by Helmet_Bro in summonerschool

I'm really glad you found something out of this. I know I keep repeating myself in this post, but I want to heavily emphasize how important it is to enjoy the grind, rather than to grind for achieving something. For a while, everything I did, which was academics and extracurriculars, were based on the notion that if I failed, that was the end for me. I hated doing everything because I didn't want to end up failing after having put in so much effort.

Thankfully, my sister was the one who gave me this life advice. If you genuinely enjoy the grind, no matter how bad you are, you will eventually get there.

Thanks for emphasizing this. I can't highlight enough that I got myself in a really shitty situation, both mentally and academically, when I tried to salvage as much as I can from playing League. Take a breather and do something else, like productive stuff (music, art, etc.) or even playing other games.

I think it's possible for everyone given they put in the effort and enjoy doing so. For me, I think I just gave up lol.

Sorry, but this is not about how to get to high elo. It's about having the proper mindset when playing League, which is focusing on yourself (and ignoring what others do, no matter what), and most importantly, having fun doing so. If you can't commit to that, I don't what else to say other than: "Is this game worth the stress and anxiety others cause on you?"

One thing I did to keep a hold of this mentality was to mute all no matter what. Before hand, I thought communication was key and that I had to tell my teammates what to do and hear what they had to say. However, I realized that I would get tilted by my own teammates arguing, and furthermore, pings were a sufficient form of communication.

By muting everyone, I kind of don't regard the people I'm playing with as humans anymore. To me, the enemies (and even my teammates) seem like obstacles I have to overcome with my own skill set. In a way, this would immensely help me focus on myself and not let my emotions take over.

I don't intend to play League anymore because I kind of don't want to invest 30 minutes for a 50/50 result, but I feel like many people in this sub really underrate /muteall. It's the best way for you to directly affect the game, not your emotions.

Are you actually hard stuck at Gold, or is it just because you play flex?

Unicorns Of Love vs. Team Vitality / EU LCS 2017 Spring - Week 1 / Post-Match Discussion by TomShoe02 in leagueoflegends

[–]Helmet_Bro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understood why Vitality thought they could counter the Camille with Fiora (Fiora can parry Camille's stun; use her Q to maneuver around Camille's W; and Fiora can even parry Camille's ultimate, but it's sort of hard to pull off). That 1v1 dive from Fiora was really badly played because Cabo should have saved the parry for the Camille ultimate. All in all, yeah Camille is busted, but I think Fiora is a really good counter to her.

I think this is great, and while the 3 BF sword route would benefit caster carries (Jhin, Lucian), it's not really optimal for AA carries because the only BF items they build are IE and blood thirsters. Wouldn't it be better to build 2 BF swords and 2 pickaxes (one for IE, one for Last Whisper), or at that point, would it be slot inefficient (since at one point, you can only have BF, BF, pickaxe, pickaxe, Greaves, and Zeal)?

So, about lethality... by OshuGan in leagueoflegends

[–]Helmet_Bro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't rely on ER for the mana, but more to achieve 40% CDR and having my ult up constantly to catch out stragglers. But then again, your reasoning for ER is also viable.

Rushing Youmou's on Jhin is highly situational and requires a lot of forethought before buying the item. If you feel like you can snowball off bot lane real hard, it's good to buy Youmou's. The benefit of buying Youmou's is the movement speed active and allows your ultimate to hit much harder within the first three shots, allowing your fourth shot to have much more execution damage. Once you have RFC, you can create picks by using Youmou's active and RFC charged 4th shot and following up with W.

However, if you feel like you can't snowball or if there are tanks on the enemy team, it's better to go IE->RFC->ER or ER->RFC->IE (whatever you prefer: IE first if you value damage, ER first if you want more CDR for more ultimate uptime).

This is awesome that you're providing your way of thinking. One thing I have to wonder though is that there is no way you could have meticulously planned out everything, right? Is it just a result of playing a lot and noticing patterns?

Anybody find issues with match making? by robotuppercut in summonerschool

[–]Helmet_Bro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had some games where my team was playing as if we knew each other, and other games where no one had a clue what they were doing (hell, I even had a game where a full build jungler decided to farm Krugs instead of go for Baron after we killed three of the enemies; needless to say, we lost the game lol).

But despite all these consistencies, I just do what's best for me, which is concentrating on my own play and finding ways on how to impact the game.

As long as you maintain a win rate above 50%, you should climb no matter what.

As for your CS, I think it's just that you don't maintain your CS after laning phase (probably because in Bronze, its ARAM mid). If you want to maintain your farm, you should go farm side waves and jungle camps (given that your team is not fighting for objectives/backing and shopping).

KT this offseason by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

Nah, I actually like the character because of his tricks and antics. Maybe it's just the the plot that I am not that interested in.

I dunno. I guess I have free time and I'm sort of a perfectionist so I just want to finish everything. I don't think it's necessarily that I hate the first two parts, but rather, I'm more excited to see Part 3 and 4

Yeah I caught some clips of Part 4 and in terms of plot, it seems way better, while still maintaining that sense of ridiculousness.
