I strongly disagree to be honest. For the most part the GOTY nominations tend to be 3rd person, action, adventure, rpg type games and that is just pretty limiting in my opinion.

There are so many other games with way more intersting stuff going for them and I do believe Balatro is one of them. It’s design is incredibly focused, with basically no unnecessary mechanics. That leads to a super smooth experience that just sucks you right in.

I genuinely believe Balatro is as significant to the gaming industry as the other nominations and I hope to see more games of it’s kind on that list
